Help With Vet Bills?

Hello all!

I just posted recently that my cat had a seizure and the first vet bill was $220.80 and tomorrow I am taking him back to the vet again and I'm sure that bill won't be cheap either. I love my special little guy so much and do want what's best for him, but at the same time I can't be run into the poor house either.

My friend had a cat that had liver problems and she spent a little over 4 grand in one year for surgery, biopsies amongst other things! She makes great money from her job so it was nothing for her to keep spending it on her cat. My husband and I, like most other people, are feeling the hurt of the recession so it's not easy for us right now.

I talked to my vet and they don't offer and couldn't even recommend any type of financial aid. I really don't know how to shop for a cheaper vet because I have no idea what my cat could would even need. Do you guys have any advice on where to go or what to do to cut down on my vet bills?

Gothique,

What state do you live in? We could do a search by state see what we can find to help you.  I'm so sorry about Opie. And sorry to hear about your situation. Vet care isn't too easy to afford these days, and we do what we can. You may not be able to pay a lot of money on vet care, but Opie is very lucky to have such caring owner.

Keep us posted!

I live in Pennsylvania.

I saw there was some types of pet insurance available but, it seems just as bad as human insurance with all the conditions and fees.

Ok,
I found a couple, but you will have to enter your zip code and city see their prices. Lets pray that this works.

It doesn't help that I do not have your zip code but for security purposes, I wouldn't ask for it either.  There is a link on our health pages which is related to discount veterinarian care. I'll post it below.

This link has been made available even if you are not logged in, just like the rest of our health pages.

Good Luck with Opie, and please let us know how he is doing. And, remember that your local ASPCA offers vet care at lower cost.
