I think my cat is dying....HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

My cat LOVES going out at night and fights all the other cats, he seems to always lose because his face is covered in scabs and so is his stomach and back. I try leaving him in at night so he won't fight anymore but he keep meowing and meowing and claws at you. Anyways, he has an an infected eye 2 times one in each eye, most likely because he was scratched by a cat. I treated the eyes with a warm wet wash cloth and then would rub antibiotic ointment. His infections are gone. But now he continues to walk around the house ALL DAY meowing as if hes in pain. He seems to be losing weight around the face, it looks like his face is sunken in around the cheeks. He is also losing hair around his ears and his stomach. Also he is black but the hair that is falling off is turning grey. If he isn't meowing all day he is sleeping or walking around very slowly. He seems to be slowly dying, like maybe the infected eyes caused an infection on the inside. I don't know what to do. And I don't have the money for a vet visit right now.

PLEASE HELP.

WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

Your cat could very well have a serious infection and needs care by a vet.  There really is no magical cure that an internet forum can supply you with.  If you can't afford medical care, then it's best not to have any cats.  It is not fair to have them, if you can't take the responsibility in their proper care.  It is not fair to them.

I can tell you a good remedy for his wanting to go outside every night: Neuter Him. The fact that he gets in cat fights and comes back hurt doesn't mean he lost the fight. It just means he endured a relatively (in cat terms) long fight just to mate with a stray female, who can potentially give him AIDS, parasites and other even more serious diseases that can kill him.

Hair falling may be a fungal infection, or it could be skin parasites. You need to take him to the vet and get his eye assessed, and his overall health, especially because you have no idea what the problem is, simply because there is no controlling him once he gets out. Nothing you can do at home. You could prevent this from happening in the future by having him neutered and getting him used to being an indoor cat. He will not die because you keep him in, but he may certainly die if you keep letting him do as he pleases.

Hope your cat gets well soon. I don't see a reason he wouldn't, if you quickly make a vet appointment. No money? Our health pages can guide you on that. You can click on the link at the top right hand corner, where it says Health Pages, and find the one that talks about vet care when you don't have a lot of money.

Good Luck.

Unfortunately my boy kitty is fixed and has been since he was 6 months old, but STILL loves to fight and comes in bloody on occasion.  It's usually when another kitty is in his yard.  His nickname is scarface because he has so many scars on his nose from getting slashed.  He also has a couple of splits on the top of his ears from getting them cut. :)   it's kinda cute.   He just thinks he's a bad a**.

I agree about getting him fixed....that should at least help!!  Ask the clinic that you are taking him to if they know of anyplace.  I know there are places around here in Dallas that have special days that its discounted...they have like nickel neutering!!!

Hmm...yes, I have heard cases like yours, in which, and I repeat, case, you would just have to force kitty to stay indoors. Can you do that? Perhaps you are aware of the fact that the neutering or spaying process doesn't always work the way we expect it to work. Sometimes, a spayed cat will certainly go through the heat process. It all depends on how well the vet performs this apparently simple surgery. You could try taking him back, see if there are crazy hormones still left in him, or you could just deal with that knowing that you have a very territorial kitty. You know, that would be another good reasoning. No two cats are the same, and although neutering helps, it cannot predict personality changes at all. Some cats are just aggressive, period. Just like humans. Some humans are plain aggressive, for no reason. It may be your cat's nature is that of a UFC kitty :) You have a natural fighter :) Can you imagine if your cat was a German Shepherd? hah haha..

:) He probably is a german shepard of the kitty world- he is 20+ pounds.  He is a little overweight, but is also just a big kitty- tall, long and huge attitude.  He gets jealous of kids playing with "his human"- my father. Well, I guess anyone talking to him- little bugger.  He also has an ornery streak in him.  He likes to sleep on my mom's bed at night, but my girl kitty- Lucy also likes to be in there- he HATES that.  He has taken to sleeping in my room to make her jealous.  What a nut.

He hasn't eaten or drank in weeks?! And he's still alive?! You need to take this cat to the vet. If you can't afford expensive treatments then at least have him put to sleep so that he doesn't suffer anymore. It shouldn't cost too much to do that. If you can't afford that either then you can take him to the pound and they will do it. I think they'd charge just a small fee to drop him off. Not trying to sound harsh here but please take him somewhere where he can get help.
