Well my Oliver is still not nuetered....so he sits and screams all day long to go out....but i want to keep him indoor.....what should i do? If i start letting him out you think he'll come back....Or i mean is it even a good idea????
I feed strays that happen by, and many of them are females who have kittens over and over again. I do my best to trap them, spay or neuter, but there are so many and the ones that I can't catch usually sire or have more litters. It is a vicious cycle. I personally have spent thousands trying to help out these strays but with my second in college, I can't do it any longer. Please consider this when you let your un-neutered cat outside.
Thanks : )
May I ask why he's still not neutered? If you need financial assistance you can find many organizations in your area that can reduce the cost of the neuter. We just got approved for PAWS to help us neuter our cat. We paid $10. All it took was a simple phone call!
Then your kitty may stop yowling to go outside to get all the ladies!
JoyRenee is right! There are organizations out there willing to help reduce or control cat population, which can become a problem in many areas. Please consider neutering your pet; then you can save some time to supervise his time out of the house see where he goes; or you could keep him indoors, spray him with water every time he yowls at the door, and he'll get it. Don't go ahead and spray cold or hot water, just room temperature water. He'll understand that every time he cries to get out, he'll get water instead; and will hopefully stop.
Why would you let an UNneutered cat out? Take a wild guess how many kittens he will produce. NINETY percent(wild guess) will wind up in a shelter, and be put to sleep if they can't get a new home. If you can't afford to get him fixed, why don't you find him a new home?
I think indoor and get the pet neutered. Getting it neutured should help with some of the crying and the despirate need to escape. In general I don't like to let our cats outside, but my grandma lets hers (neutered) out... I detest it but I have no control over my grandma and her decisions. I can only take her cat in whenever I see him outside.
I am sorry that you feel attacked, but I am just stating the facts!! I didn't imply that you are stupid either. When you write to these forums, you'll get a bunch of different opinions. A lot of us are very very opinionated people-you have to have some thick skin to deal w/it. I just reread what I wrote, I don't think that it sounded that bad.
Prettykitty and Joy had some awesome suggestions about low cost neutering. There are some in my area too, in VA. We have the ASPCA that does it here. Please, look into it-you and your cat will be soooo much happier. Non-fixed males has the worst smelling urine.
I dont think that this forum is for people to express their opinions....I think its for helping eachother....I know that you probably didnt mean to attack but i mean i didnt come here to ask you to tell me that i should give my pet away just because i havent had him fixed....I mean thats none of anybodys business....i was just asking for help cuz i saw how good you and prettykitty usually help.....so i was not expecting that kind of reaction....But its ok....FORGIVE AND FORGET haha
I know how you are feeling. We have a grey cat that has not been neutered yet and it is becoming a chore to keep him inside. I figure if he goes out he will come back because he only eats cooked chicken (long story) but they can get hurt outside or become ill and die. If you want him to stay indoors without the howling then have him fixed. We are going to do the same. Also a male cat that is not fixed is going to spray pee in every corner and that is one mess you don't want. I don't believe in judging anyone for their choices so If you decide not to neuter him and let him out just keep in mind that they could get hurt or not come home one day. Good luck with your choice.
Thank you for your comfort...OUR CAT IS GREY TOO :) hahaha.....Yeah the problem with spraying everywhere is getting out of hands....My laundry bin, EVERY corner of my room, door mat....ANYTHING YOU COULD THINK OF IS PISSED ON.......I have called the Santa Ana animal controll and requested the pattition to get him neutered for free.....I do think untill then Oliver is gonna stay home(OH WELL) hahaha....well we'll walk him on the leash....
