Kessie update

Hey all;

10 days now since Missy K last upchucked.  Last couple of days her deposits in the scratch box have been near normal, with normal odor.

She has regained 1/2# in the past week and is back to spending most of her time out and about, or napping in plain sight.

The Prednisone, cutting out fish, plus the switch to Science Diet sensitive stomach kibble (which she really digs into) have made a good difference we think.

We'll continue the course of Prednisone that out vet recommends.

As for Chessie's ear, I got some cleaning drops from the vet, which contain an anti-fungal, thinks it's a yeast infection rather than ear mites.  So, we'll see how that goes.

Glad to know Kessie and Snickers are doing better :-)
Loreena didnt fall in love for that "GOLDEN' tuna flavour food I bought her ( twice the price I normally pay for the other )
Im afraid it wont work to be used as a treat -I dont blame her, the stuff not even smells good...
It was the one vet said "go ahead, Its good!"Since I'm not having health problems with the old one, just trying to make her appetite increase I would prefer something tasteful to a good expensive and not acceptable food.I just wanna mix something there that was not a sache or canned food...

I'm glad to hear that last one was just a hairball.  That's good enough for the happy dance.  Akira is also doing better.  The Prednisilone (close cousin of Prednisone and used the same way) is making some difference on the itchy ears, too.  Akira was starting to show signs of gastric issues, too.  Maybe because she is already ten years old and has had some chronic food allergies.  That is the main reason why I keep her on the Wellness canned food.  It's grain free and she is obviously allergic to grains.  Before I figured this out I had given her Friskies with gravy.  If I were to offer that to her right now, she would devour the gravy first.  This may sound strange, but after I read about how we ourselves often can't seem to get enough of the very foods we're intolerant to or allergic to, I saw that this has to be true because Akira was acting in that exact manner.  People who can have a fatal anaphylactic shock allergic reaction often remark about how much they miss that favorite food that they seem to still crave but know they can't go anywhere near.  Fortunately, we humans can intentionally avoid some food that our bodies now think is poison.  But, if you offer something your cat is allergic to (though not fatally) the cat will likely act like the cat can't get enough of that food she shouldn't be eating.

The other half of this coin is that Akira is normally a very well-behaved kitty and even mannerly when she sits there staring holes in me when I'm eating something she wants a bite of.  If the food that has the meat in it has any grain product in it, Akira will act like she is ravenous and will literally try to take the meat away from me.  Now, if it's only a meat and vegetable plate, which is the only thing on my menu lately, since I've had to go carb free for health reasons, Akira will behave herself and only stare holes through me.  I can only laugh when tries to stare holes through me, since dogs and cats both do that.  They try to make their humans feel guilty.  Usually, though, Akira gives up, since I don't normally give her food off of my plate.  That's not something you want to encourage.

Akira has obvious environmental and food allergies.  I have already been giving her a superior food--well, as superior as I can afford.  Raw would be best, and she is always literally running into the kitchen any time I am preparing raw meat.  That always makes me laugh to see the way she runs. She can be sound asleep, but as soon as that fresh meat comes out of the package, she can be under foot in an instant.  I have to laugh, because she is just being a normal cat.  I do have to send her back out of the kitchen.  If I know how fresh the meat is and can trust it won't make her sick--after I've cut the meat the way I want it, she can have a bite or two for a kitty treat.  The fat free portions, of course--the best parts, because her regular diet has the proper fat portions already included in it.

Yep, Akira is molting, too.  They're supposed to molt this time of year, so we're all bound to find some of those normal hair balls--even after brushing our fur babies really well.  Hairballs are so much better than what's left behind when kitty's tummy doesn't feel good, albeit still gross.  But, still just what cats do when they're molting.

They might be moulting. =)  Miss Kessie pitched a hairball the size of a cheap cigar Anita said (after I went to bed last night).
