Kitten, vomiting worms, wont eat and drink

My 2month old kitten is sick since friday. He suddenly won't eat and drink water and he vomited thin, white worms and he has diarrhea. He wants to drink water but he has some trouble in swallowing it so I made him drink water (and I made him drink milk too) by a dropper so he will not be dehydrated. Last tuesday before he got sick, he threw up with a worm in it and that's how I discover that he has worms. But after that he was back to normal. Then friday came and he went like this again up to now. I can't afford to take him to the vet. We can't deworm him if he hasn't eaten anything. What shall I do? I don't want him to die :( please I badly need your help.

Well sad to say, that is sometimes the hard way to learn an important lesson. Next time there is ANYTHING that does not set well with you--it is off to the public vet, so you will never have to go thru this heartache.

Thank you so much for getting back to us with an update---even a very sad one.

Sincerely,

Sorry if it took me so long to respond. I was having a hard time trying to remember my password for this site. :( Anyways thanks for all of your concern and advice guys but sad to say my kitten died 2days right after I posted this question. :( then after that heartbreaking event in my life, the brother of my kitten got infected with the same symptoms except for vomiting worms. He did throw up for like 2-3x a day. So i was all worried again and devastated and exasperated cause i really do not know what was going on with them. and then i consulted a public vet and asked if those symptoms are the same with parvo. He told me that it is not likely to be a parvo case yet since my kitten is not vomiting blood. He then advised me to go buy a hydrite powder to regain the electrolytes of my kitten since he surely is dehydrated for not eating and drinking for how many days. The hydrite powder as instructed in its pack is mixed with 200ml of water. I used a dropper so that my kitten will be able to drink the proper consumption required for his age. At least twice a day. after 2days he started drinking water on his own (an improvement for me of course) and the next day he started drinking milk from his mother and he also started eating. I was just so happy that he regained his health. But i am also sad for the death of his brother. If only I knew that hydrite powder is what i entirely need for that kind of situation, my poor kitty should've survived. But i've learned my lesson well and i am praying thay all of my beloved pets will be healthy always. :)

Ryzza, you sound like a new kitty owner and one other thought is that I don't know if your cat is indoor/outdoor or if the cat has fleas but flea prevention is important to prevent this from occurring again. We invested in Frontline (a bit expensive) and treated our cats for a few months (long enough to kill all stages of fleas) and we were fortunate to NEVER have fleas again and I am talking 20 years plus!  We had indoor cats (exposed to screens) with a infestation super bad that we had to get under control.  I am very thankful to Frontline product as we tried everything!  No more fleas or worms and future cats also. Also to feed kitty a higher quality food and less vet visits are most likely to be the result. (lower maintenance costs)  I suggest Wellness. Since we switched no more urinary tract issues in one of our cats. (common in cats).

Sounds like tapeworm which is very common in new kittens (from mama cat) usually occurs when cats have fleas (eat a flea with a worm larvae).  This should be a med from the vet for about a week. Since your kitty seems to have them bad they may also give a shot to get on top of it.  They should assist with payment plan (or another vet may).  Tapeworm is usually first noticed in the stool (liquid like when they have worms) and they look like rice at least when I caught them.  They also may be seen on the "butt' or in their bedding. You may be able to save costs by bringing in a stool sample for "proof" and not the cat where they may issue meds to bring home.  (best to bring cat though).  If you bring a "sample with proof" this may eliminate the cost of their testing.  I have told a vet I don't need testing as I am very familiar with what I have here! I just wanted meds which does have to be issued according to size of cat. Unfortunately, owning a pet may end up with health issues with a cost but tapeworm should be corrected fairly easy but can't be ignored either. Pet adoption is wonderful and I hope you can get a break on the fee.

There's no natural way of getting rid of worms, she's just a baby and will die for sure if she doesn't get medical help. A vet will never turn you away and not help a severly sick animal..... your only option is to the vet... NOW

Call your local humane organization and see if there are any low-cost clinics. You can get a couple of types of worm medicine at the store, but it's usually a bad idea and often ends badly.  For one thing, people overdose their animals by accident and that can harm or even kill the pet.  For another, you don't know what kind of worms the kitten has.  You would be SO MUCH better off taking the kitty to a vet.  In my town, some clinics are a lot cheaper than others, and some do offer payment plans.  Please put some effort into this, even to the extent of borrowing the money, so your kitty will come through OK.

What a great idea for a payment plan.  Good for you. Wish more people would do this.

....and Emma, Ryzza is absolutely right , this is emergency time. Take him to an emergency clinic if need be. He is probably severely dehydrated due to all of this vomiting. Kittens don't have a large body -- so any water loss is dangerous.

Is there other natural way or remedy to make him okay again?

You should not feed your kitten cows milk!! They are lactose intolerant and this will make them ill. I understand you say you can't afford a vets but your kitten needs vetenary help!! Ring and speak to your vet about paying them on a payment plan? I pay my vet £3 a week and build a credit in my account so that when something like this happens I have money there to use. You need to call and take your kitten to a vet!!! Worms can be very fatal to a kitten.
