Kitten belly

Our cat, Daisy had kittens 5 wks ago and we are noticing one of the kittens has a floppy belly. It droops quite far down and almost touches the floor. It is on the lower half of her belly, closest to hind legs which sometimes causes her to run a bit akward. It feels just like extra skin, no lumps or bumps. We've had a few litters of kittens and have never seen this before. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance.

Heh heh...they do tend to run large. We had one running around in the area we were trying to trap but it was a fast little bugger. Hopefully we'll have better luck the next time we see it.

Enjoy your healthy kitten, it sounds like it's got the equipment it needs to grow big and fat!

Thank you for the response Savas. :0)

We took the kitten,"Poncho" to the Vet today and she said she is perfectly fine and the pooch has just a bit of extra skin, nothing to worry about. Yay!

I looked up info on Pixie Bobs cats and I suppose it could be possible that she could have traces of that line in her (she is a spotted/striped tabby) but she is of normal size whereas I read the PB's are generally of larger size. I suppose time will tell.

It's possible that this litter has some Pixie Bob genes in their ancestry (Pixie Bobs look like little bobcats). What you describe is a classic characteristic of Pix Bob Baby Bellies.

If you are worried, though, ask your vet about it when you get them vaccinated and spayed.

I'd love to see a pix, they sound very cute. :)
