Male cat spraying

In October I found the tinest kitten under my sister's porch. I nursed it back to health and everything has just been wonderful. However, the past month, in all most every room in my house I smell cat urine. My cat Stormie is a non neutered male. I was always told that neutered male cats spray, that is why I choose not to neuter him. Is this common? Is there a reason for his spraying? Does anyone have any ideas who I can get him to stop?  Any reason as to why all of a sudden he would start doing this? His litter box is cleaned out nightly, so that is not the problem. Any advise would be appreciated. The urine smell is making me sick!!!

Whoever told ya that is wrong!  Cats that have NOT been neutered are more likely to spray.  They will spray everything to attract female kitties and to mark their territory.  Get him neutered ASAP and both you and kitty will be much much happier.  Just to let you know, after the cat's been neutered it might take a week or so for the spraying to stop all together since there will still be some hormones circulating.  You should see an improvement every day after you get him fixed.

By the way, isn't the yowling getting on your nerves, too???????????  =)

Yes the yowling is getting on my nerves. He is soo loud sometimes he will wake you up from a sound sleep.   My husband is the one who told me about the spraying. This is the first time I've had a male cat, all my other cats have been female and all were neutered. Thank you soo much for the info.

Your welcome!  The yowling is from his hormones!  LOL  As soon as he's neutered that will stop too!  =)
