Miss Teia Honey - ! year and 1 week =)

Hey all;

As I type, Miss Teia is napping atop her storage tub next to the window, which has once again become a favorite spot.

Miss Hildiekatt is napping on the bed, just about 3 feet from Teia, who absolutely knows she is there.

Last night, Teia had finished what she wanted of her supper and was sitting next to her plate being petted.  Hildie comes up and starts to eat the leftovers...Teia just looked and blinked, not a peep, but the nose was going ,-)

Hildie finished and they "nosed" at each other, coming into contact for a few seconds (which happened about a week ago, too).

So, it definitely looks like, for the first time in her 11 1/2 years, Teia has a cat friend.

When I get good reactions like this, I'll pet them at the same time, saying soothing words, trying to ensure that Teia knows another kitty visiting is a good thing and not the abuse she suffered as a kitten.

What a marvelous feeling to see this cat come out of her shell like this.  A little sad, too, that her previous people obviously wasted 10 years in which they could have had a sweet, devoted little friend.

That is so touching, Pip.  You have been instrumental  in this budding friendship between the two of them.  I always love it when my cats actually act like they like each other.  Basically the 6 of mine are 3 different families but I love it when they interact and just get along and are comfortable with each other...it's like "all's right with their world" ♥

Thanks for the ongoing updates on Miss Teia, Pip.  I love your stories and hearing about  her progress.  Funny, but we've said the same think about Jade and how her owners didn't have a clue they were missing out on such a great cat!  Oh well...it's OUR gain, isn't it :)

I think we are all so blessed  that we feel such passion for our kittles because it really means deep down we all have a passion for life and for living. I think our furry babies bring out that basic respect and compassion we share for them and for others, human and feline alike.  :)

Another breakthrough (I hope ,-)

Tonight, Chesapeake (who is usually as subtle as a crowbar upside the head) was in Miss Teia's room, laying quietly on the far side of the bed from her.

It looks like Chessie has decided that the direct approach to this "new" Kittie won't work.

Chessie was in there about 15 minutes without any negative response from Teia.

That is so great!  It makes me feel so good the more mine bond together and just get along. I like the way Chessie was respectful of Teia and giving her "her space."  :)

Hey all

Well, rain hitting the bedroom window woke me up around 2:30 this morning (I normally sleep-in to 4:30 ,-)

When Anita and I are both asleep or out of the house, we've taken to putting up one of those mesh baby-gates in the doorway of Teia's "bedsitter."  So, most of the time, the doorway is fully open and Teia has been spending much more time out of any "cave" or "bunker."

Miss Teia must have heard me stirring...she was sitting just inside the gate.  After heeding the "call of nature," I opened the gate and she strolled out of the room, just a couple of feet, but definitely out of her safe zone.

She stood with her flank against my shins as I reached down and caressed her and scratched her ears for about 5 minutes.  She was looking at Hildiekatt, who lay just inside the master bedroom not more than 3 feet away.

Teia then walked to her food dish, sat down and looked up as if to say; "I was a brave kitteh, how bout some nomz?"

Both she and Hildie enjoyed an early breakfast, they take their meals just a couple of feet apart almost every time =)

(As did Hildie's sister Kestrel, but in the kitchen...Chessie was fast asleep in the basement, I think, she likes to nest under one of my book shelves)

So, another small step!
