Great answer! One thing; if you don't know about it, pick up Nature's Miracle at the pet store and treat the areas liberally. Normal products won't touch the smell for kitty, she'll still smell it as a "make spot".
Also; cats can react strangely to human odors like sweat and the like. It could be a comment on your son's diet (you are what you eat). :) You may have to do more frequent washing of the bedding to avoid this in the future if this is the case.
Guess what! I've been dealing with this exact same problem with my oldest cat. After she peed three times this week on my bed and me having to strip the bed and wash all the bedding three times, I wasn't too happy. I finally took her to the vet today and come to find out she's got a urinary tract infection. They said when the have a UTI it burns when they pee and since it's painful, they associate the cat box with pain and so will avoid it when they're having a UTI. So, I got some antibiotics to give her so hopefully this will do the trick.
Take her to the vet. I bet anything she's got a UTI. Come back and let us know, ok?
