Noisy female cat since being spayed

Hi, since I had my cat, Primrose, spayed (she is 18 months old) she has become very vocal - I mean very very vocal, she is constantly meowing for attention and for food, she will not leave the other cats alone - the female she attacks and the males she pins down to wash.  She was about 5 weeks pregnant when she was spayed (we were not aware otherwise we would not have had her done).  We have wormed her to be sure it isn't a worm problem.  As much as it is lovely having such an affectionate cat it is driving us bonkers with her constant noise!  Also I think the males could do with a break from having their ears (and other bits) washed all the time.  Is there anything I could do or try to help calm this down.  Many thanks

Our tabby cat acts like that also, so when I took her in to be declawed the vet shaved her belly and showed me her scar from being spayed. He said that sometimes they can act like that. She only does it when our neutered male cat pins her down and bites the back of her neck. Crazy kitties.

Please, both of you take the cat to the vet to make sure the vet wasn't a #!@* ;idiot and left part of the ovary in there-you don't want it turning into cancer.  I am not sure I'd go to the same vet that did the "spay" because they might try to cover it up, try to charge you for their "f" up, or deny that they were that stupid leaving part of the ovary in there.

Even a tiny piece of ovary left over is capable of keeping the cat in heat, because the ovary is releasing the hormones.

Keep me posted!!!

Zodiac's answer makes more sense than mine.  We had our female cat spayed after she kept having kittens - would have done it earlier but she was a stray and we thought she belonged to someone else.  After being spayed, she was really vocal.  We thought she was experiencing a "loss" - not being able to have kittens anymore.  That's using human emotions to explain cat behavior/feelings .... not really reliable.

We still have her youngest kitten - he is now 12 yrs old  = )

This would make sense as she is still calling the males and getting into mating position which I have never had with any other spayed cat.

Many thanks.

Hi, it sounds like the cat is STILL in heat.  This is possible if the vet screwed up and left pieces of ovary in.  This has happened to my mother's cat-the idiot vet left some ovary in her and it turned into a cancerous tumor.  We took her to the vet had it removed, and 3 years later now-she's fine.

Please get her to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong with her.  They may want to do an ultrasound, since the ovaries don't show up on x-rays.

Good luck to you and please give me an update.
