That's a major victory for the people of the U.K. I'm sure that Monsanto doesn't want the clear labeling laws, because there are enough people who would not buy the food that they know is GMO. Some companies are voluntarily labeling their ready made products as not having GMO stuff in the finished product. But, I have to wonder if there is still full truth in labeling, since the laws still have loopholes for companies making claims about the finished products not containing ingredients from China. I'm sure there will be unscrupulous companies finding some loophole to make the claims that their products don't have GMO garbage in it, too, since it's the same thing.
Gosh Furballs you are so right I have been petitioning non stop, and actually Monsanto are losing major batttles regarding GMO's this week UK drove Monsanto OUT of UK
Yeah, and the US is the only country that hasn't required clear labeling on GMO produce. Most of Europe has the labeling requirement. It's already proving that GMO is a disaster waiting to happen, because it's a big reason why people have more allergies than ever before. I looked at a map of the world with markers of places that require the clear GMO labeling. The map was completely void of such markers over the entire continental US. There is resistance in this because the big guns can have patents and make more money on GMO crops. They keep saying to law makers "there is no proof" and "prove it".
I mention this, because I think it's essentially the same type of thing. Follow the money. It's all about making a profit from the unsuspecting consumers.
There should be a stronger law that could prevent this loophole in the labeling. What a stupid labeling loophole.
yup and when I go into the stores thats all we eat ...or rather they would have us eat ..I will not buy it unless I have to I have become a better label reader..I don't know why the US doesnt produce more unless its all the regulation thats are in place now
What can we expect from a place where they put dangerous products on their own children's milk?
If there's no local control by the authorities, why should they care about the junk exported?
Well, maybe I better keep using my national brasilian pet food - its not "that great" but I guess they dont use imported products on it...
makes me so angry that not only pet foods but ours as well are imported!! and you can't even trust the labels, as long as they are packaged in US or Canada regardless of where the ingredients come from they read made in US/Canada......we the consumers are kept in the dark.
Did you read that one of the foods tested didn't even contain any traces of actual meat???? thank goodness it wasn't a brand sold outside of China (yet)...the regulations on pet food is so alarming.
Yeah, I just saw the video and article. I have a theory that the responsible parties in China do know what is wrong and aren't owning up to it, because whatever they're doing isn't obvious and they haven't gotten caught.
