Hi, AnnieBrooke is also right! This happened to one of my mom's cats! One of her ovaries were missed and she continued to be in heat for years. Everyone insisted that she wasn't in heat because she was spayed and they saw the incision to prove it. Well, after much of my nagging, we got it investigated through exploratory surgery. Sure enough, there was an oddly shaped ovary left over. That got sent to the lab, and it ended up being cancerous. It was what they described as encapsulated. She survived for years after that and passed away from something unrelated.
I think your kitty will be fine in two weeks or so. But, if you notice her in heat beyond this, then bring it to your vets attention.
Please come on back and let us know how she's doing!!
I have had a vet miss an ovary when spaying. The cat would still come into heat but had no uterus left for an embryo to implant. If you went to a place for the spay that was more or less production line (like, a humane organization) it is possible that an ovary was missed; they are very small. If she continues to come into heat, talk to your vet.
Thank you so much! I feel so much better!! The incision is looking good and I will sleep better tonight!
Hi, if your cat was spayed, then there's no way that she can get pregnant.
She's acting like she's still in heat because she still has hormones in her blood. Give it a few more days and that will go away in a few more days.
