Scratching Ears

My cat is a spayed female, approx. 13 yoa.  She began madly scratching the outside of her ears about 1 wk. ago.  I tried fungal med., kept it at bay, but did not cure.  She began losing hair on both ears and skin looks somewhat dry,  Both ears are warm to the touch.  Inside of ears smell as usual.  Thank you for your time.

It sounds like ear mites. Have you tried ear mite remedy? It's an OTC...or you can go to the vet for a one time shot (less mess and fuss!)

Mites have the ability to materialize in even the cleanest of households. :)

I would consider the vet visit. If the ears are very warm, the scratching may have caused an infection to set in. :(
