She's Home!

Well, she's home. I picked her up a couple of hours ago. She's doing great! She's even purring and ran right to her food dish, lol. Of course it's a bit more difficult to eat and move around because they put that collar on her to keep her from biting her stitches, poor baby. She has to have it on for 10 days till she gets her stitches taken out. :(
The vet said she did very well with the anesthesia. She feels the mass had grown some since she last saw her. She was concerned because she said she had a major blood vessel feeding it. She warned me that the incision would be larger than I expected because she had to cut out a wide margin around the mass (3cm all around, including 3cm deep) in case it was cancerous and to be on the safe side. She will send this off to pathology and we should hear back sometime this week. I'm not sure if Christmas will cause a delay or not. Hopefully we'll hear back before then.
She sent her home with some antibiotics and pain meds. I put her in my bedroom (to keep her away from the other animals) with a litter box, food, water and kitty bed, plus I picked up a warming pad from the pet store because I thought she'd like that. I figured it would feel good to her. :)

So that's it! Next we should hear back from the pathologist. I just hope and pray this is it and she won't get another one of these things. Now, just to rest and heal.

Thanks so much for caring and all the well wishes and prayers! You guys are the best. :) Love to you all!

She's acting a bit perkier tonight before I gave her the pain meds again. She was wanting to come out of the bedroom but I need to keep her away from the other animals so she can rest and heal.
I was gone for awhile tonight and she was so glad to see my come into the bedroom and was rubbing against me and purring, wanting to be petted. She's doing real well it looks like! Thanks everyone! :)

April,

That's right. My Abby gets a bit slow with pain meds too. It's normal. But keep an eye on her. And please keep us posted :)

I talked to the vet clinic and they said the pain meds could be making her act a bit lethargic and that's pretty normal. I will continue to keep an eye on her.

Call your vet and ask if this is normal.  I think opus is probably right but better to check it out anyway.....Keep us posted.        sara

Hmm...I don't blame you being worried, I would too if she's acting completely different than yesterday.  Within the last hour, I read somewhere about blood clots after surgery, but can't remember where I JUST read that?  How does her incision look?...any redness beyond the usual?  And how do her eyes look?  If she indeed has herpes and the stress has brought on a breakout, they will look glassy and she will want to squint.  It COULD be the herpes (if she has this) that's making her feel unwell.

After Jades surgery, she seemed fine at the hospital and fine the first day home, but gradually the eyes got worse and she didn't feel well at all!

Praying for Misha!!

She was acting a little more active yesterday evening and night. I'm not sure if I should be worried or if this is normal. She's just sleeping in her cat bed. She's been in it all day. I hope that's normal. I picked her up this morning to give her her meds and she was kind of limp and didn't resist. I know she needs to rest to get better but do you guys think this is ok behavior and to be expected for recovering from surgery? At what point should I get concerned? Yeah, I'm a worried mommy. :-)

So happy to hear Misha's surgery was successful!!!  Looks like she's already bouncing back.  Great to hear she's eating and drinking like normal.  Now we will just wait for the pathology report and pray it's negative!!

What a great mommy you are with the heating pad and all :)

I guess I didn't realize Misha is all white.  She sure is a beautiful girl!

So I made a nice little bed for her on the floor and felt her jump up on my bed last night, lol. She wanted to sleep with me! I was a little worried about her jumping but she jumped on and off it several times. I could hear her munching food and knocking over her dishes. Poor thing, still getting used to that awkward collar!
But she's doing great! I can't believe how well she's acting. She laid by me most of the night just purring. Purring! Right after surgery! And eating like she's starving! I tell you, I think animals do better than us humans after surgery! They don't even complain!
She's such a sweet baby. :)

great that the surgery is all over and baby is home with you again....I pray the pathology report is negative!!....
When my Opus had his surgery and they shaved alot of his hair, I too got him a heat pad...wrapped it up with a few towels and put it on low so it would be just warm not hot!! he absolutely loved it, the only time he'd get off is to go potty or eat!
keep well little Misha eat lots and get back to normal real soon..so those stitches and collar can be off!

Hi, I'm so happy that Misha did well during the surgery!!  YAYYYY!  I'm sure she'll recover quickly w/ you spoiling her!!  LOL  A heating pad, huh????  ONLY with us on the cat forum!!  Do we not spoil our kids, or what???  = )  That's why I love this forum, too.  There are many wonderful owners on here that know how to treat animals and consider them part of the family!!

God bless Misha, and I pray that the biopsy brings good news!!

Hi, so glad she's doing well.  I know they hate those collars. I'm sure it stresses them.  But I guess you gotta do what ya gotta do.  If she does manage to pull it off, like mine did, you could try PK's idea with the kitty-T.  Y'all are both such good kitty mommies!

Aw this is such good news. I knew it’d all be a success. And yes, April, I will keep praying for Misha and hoping she will not get another mass again. Your idea of putting her in your room with her own bed, food, and box was great. That’s what I did with Abby.  I’m certain she’ll feel relaxed with her heating pad. So glad she is home and purring.

When will you hear back from the pathologist?

Is she comfortable with that thing on? Would a t-shirt covering the incision instead of the collar be a bad idea?  Abby has two incisions..all covered by the t-shirt. He won’t even try to lick it!
