Something is wrong with my cats toe

On one of my cats toes there is this almost nail like thing growing out of the pad. The actual nail is above it and that looks fine but below it is this nail looking thing that is growing out of the actual pad (the underneath part that has no hair) of the toe.

I can't take him to the vet right now but will be able to take him on the 23red when I get paid. He is walking fine but when I grab his paw to look at it he doesn't want me to. So maybe it is causing him pain? Do you think he could wait until the 23red?

PLEASE ADVICE! I hate when my cats are uncomfortable or in pain...

No worries. If it is this, the big danger is more from infection after removal. Let us know what happens.

Yeah I found out from only forum it is. I saw a pic of it and it looked just like it. Thank you for confirming it also! I was really worried.

It sounds like a horned growth (hard to be sure, not seeing it). Usually they get removed surgically or by laser, depending on the size. If this is the case, it's not especially dangerous to wait a few days to a week. But remember, not being able to see it, I can't swear to it.

Then again, if your vet won't allow you to be billed...there isn't much to do about it.

Except perhaps find a better vet. :)
