Swelling of the shoulder, kitten

My kitten fell off a shelf and twisted his leg about four days ago and he is behaving normally with the exception of being a bit off balance and some limping.  However, his shoulder that he twisted is swelling and it doesn't seem to be going down.  Is there anything I can do to help the swelling?

Hi All,

Thank you to PrettyKitty1.  Cheeseball's shoulder was not broken, the swelling coincidentally was from a previous wound or bite of some sort that had abscessed.  We used a warm compress and all is better now. He will be on antibiotics for the next 10 days, but he is doing fine.

Well at least you know why the shoulder has a swollen area. What you can do is take him to the vet immediately. I don't think there is anything you can do really and the cat is in pain. The vet may want to do x-rays to see if there is a fractured bone, which I'm sure there is.  I guess If the leg is swollen bathe in hot water and mild disinfectant and go to the vet.
Good Luck.
