Teia: Thanksgiving Eve ;-)

Teia: Thanksgiving Eve ;-)

Hey all;

I decided to sleep on the spare bed last night to keep Miss Teia company.  Either Anita or I do that about once a week.   We think it part of what's helping her integration into our household society.

I woke up just after midnight and Teia was snuggled against me, laying on her back.  I rubbed her belly and she woke up purring.  Then gave a little, startled "Yowp!"  Rolled, sat up and paid vigorous attention to grooming her shoulder in that classic kitty, "I meant to do that" moment of embarrassment.

Miss Teia is a happy cat, and I'm glad her story has been a bright spot.

Happy Thanksgiving Y'All!

take care - Pip

Very Glad in knowing that!!
Miss Teia and all the others are happy because they have quite good humanes to take care of them, as you and your wife !
A  Happy Thanksgiving to you all, from me and Loreena's family !
She's just a little bored that the date is not celebrated in Brazil so there's no chance for her to steal turkey or similar - Whiskas sachets are only 1 for week!
I'm also thankful cos the babies are growing fine... No idea how things will be by the moment the leave the box but ... better wait for.

Aww...so sweet!  Miss Teia's turning out to be a real little prize and AppleBr is right.  The love and close connection you and Anita have with Teia is bringing out her true personality.  Thank God Miss Teia has you and Anita, Pip.

When we first got Jade, she would cower if you brought your hand over her head to pet her.  We hate to think why she was like that.  She no longer reacts that way.  We think once she realized we were going to be consistant in our treatment of her, she became completely trusting.  She loves to be pet, but it took her 2yrs to actually touch US herself.  She sheds pretty badly and we think she was consistantly shoed away from brushing up against people as she will not do that to this day.  We could hardly believe her owners just let us care for her and eventually, just take her, but they did...lucky us!   We don't think they had a clue, what a great cat Jade is.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Anita, Pip and you too, AppleBr.  Glad to hear the kittens are all well and healthy.

Loreena adoppted me when  she was quite young and spend a long time rubbing against my legs asking for food. For some months the only she got was a pat in the head or tail and she accepted those.
But she took a looooong time to close her eyes while beeing touched! And stopped the rubbing when finally convinced me :-)
Only returned to affectionate demonstrations from the middle to the end of pregnancy. Probably because my nap is more conforting than the floor- or was she thinking about BETTER FOOD??
By now she's not accepting to be brushed, not even very carefully.Add that to the cleaning of all kittens and she must be eating a lot of fur...

Not having been in the middle of a kitten situation, I can only go by my experience with Miss Teia, and earlier with Tuna, Dancer and Cerridwen (the feral/stray cats we've taken in over the years).

Its sounds like Loreena is fully involved with mothering, and that natural instinct to place a bit of a barrier between her kittens and the rest of the world.

I'd venture the guess that when the kittens are much more able to fend for themselves that she will return to being "touchy-feely."

It's nice to read your kitten story.

Maybe you should give Loreena some hairball treatment just to be on the safe side.  I can see a problem could arise with her licking the kittens as well as herself.   Wonder why she refuses the brush?

So Loreena adopted you too :)  I think cats must have a sense of who will treat them well when they are in need of a new home.

When our kitty, Abby, died...that very night a stray cat showed up and took over Abby's place underneath our neighbors truck.  When I saw this cat at first, it freaked me out because it was dark and just for a second, my mind played tricks on me and I thought it was Abby!  This kitty needed a new home too, but we had only put Abby down that morning and it was too soon, so ended up calling Animal Control to come and pick her up.  She was an older cat that came straight out of nowhere and just wanted to sit in my lap, poor kitty.  I felt so bad calling Animal Control, but there was just no choice at that time and we were not prepared to take in an older animal with god only knew what kind of illnesses :(

I'd just like to say besides being thankful for Medhelp, I'm also thankful for Aramis, TJ, Masena, Sunshine, Heidi and Shadow. They are all different and all beautiful.  After reading so many serious and intense posts on the other forums, its nice to come to the Cat community because there's always a bit of lightness and welcoming warmness here. I always enjoy dropping by the Cat forum at the end of my Medhelp visits. Maybe its because our cats invoke such warm and fuzzy feelings in us.
