This might sound weird, but Im just curious!

I have 2 male cats and 2 female cats and all the new born kittens (that will be goin to their homes in a month or two, growing up so fast and getting over their cat flu.. YAY)
I am currently pregnant and ill with it as well, I am wondering why when you are ill (Female) why do the male cats sense it but not the females. Im asking because my Male Kitten is always on my lap, follows me everywhere, Cries when im in another room (Like the loo)

My female kitten curls up with the male kitten when he's on my lap. But doesnt behave the same way.

Why can Male cats sense when a female person is ill and why dont female kittens sense it??

Ive been wondering for a few days now!!

I have had many, many foster kittens over the last 2 years I have noticed a strange coincidence.. the male kittens bond best with me and the females best with my boyfriend. (A year ago I adopted my first cat, a female in one of my litters, a year later she is now glued to my side especially when I get sick.)

I dont have new born kittens, I think they are a herd of Elephants, They are so noisyy... Its like only 2 of them running around. But they are so Noisy.

I dunoo haha, unless they copy my brother I am unsure haa... he always gets what he wants haha....
If funny our new born kittens have just started getting their personalities, One of them nearly  died... 2 had Cat Flu.. one stopped eating we took her to the vets for the 6th time and they finally done something put her on a drip fed her milk she started getting better, after a few days started eating off her mum again and now we still have to feed her, she'll feed for my mum but not for me :( But we still have to put her on her mum to feed.. Bless, when she is feeding the other distract her and so she runs away and goes and plays then you're chasing her to get her to eat haha.. They are 5 weeks tomorrow. Haha..
they are so sweet I dont want them to go :(

Yes, it's like they need their own little solariums  :)  Maybe they would stay away from our computers, lol. Cats can be so persistent, so determined to get what they want.  So stubborn, so spoiled. ♥:)  Does it mean it's our fault they are the way they are?  We teach them to manipulate us?  Hmmmm...

My cats just annoy me when Im on my laptop the only button they press its the backspace which deletes everything!! haha. I used to have a heated floor in my old house, I say heated becase I lived on the top floor of a flat, when everyone had their heating on, we didnt need to because heat rises... one space was really warm and stuff, try fitting 3 fully grown cats on that space haha. Was funny to watch.... And Cats ALWAYS sunbathe, and always under my lamp aswell. Or sleeping ontop of my snake tank, it had a High temp reptile radiator in there so its VERY hot..they're constantly on it. Haha

I've thought my cats were just jealous of my laptop.  Now I usually have one of them on each arm of my chair.  We usually keep our house pretty cool, around 68-70.  Well, after what was just said,in the post above, I think my cats are seeking the heat of....my laptop... the lamp next to the chair.... my body.... all the while I'm sitting here wondering why it's so darn hot in here while I have the air conditioner cranked down to 68.  Now I get it :)

Does anyone here watch House.  There was an episode about the "death cat" and they discovered that it wasn't that the cat could sense a person was dying.  It was that cats like heat, and usually people who are dying have elevated temperatures.  They figured this out by seeing if the cat would jump up on the computer if it was on.

Do you think some cats just have that sense then? because One cat we had Gizmo used to only sit with my mum when she was ill, she nearly died giving birth to my sister, and a few days before he wouldnt leave her side even in the bath he sat on the side, he was there when she went into labour and her placenta exploded and after she came home he sat with her untill she was able to move around...
We had to give him away though cause we couldnt have him at our house. And this new kitten does the same as Gizmo.

I had a beloved cat named Smutty.  Whenever  I was ill, he was glued to me.  He sat on the end of my bed for weeks while I recovered from a severe illness and surgery.  No one ever saw him eat or use his box but the food bowl was emptied and no accidents.  But my every waking memory is of him on my bed.  He passed at 17 years old.  I still get sad.

I've  had more cats since.  And none, male or female, has done that.  One male will occasionally sit with me when I'm ill but not always.  Smutty was the only one and I loved him like no other cat before or since.

OMG! there was a story about that on the news. A cat lived in an Old peoples home with the residents, and the cat used to sit on the End of someones bed and later that day the person would pass away.....

So basically the cat can sense everything. But its only the male cat who wil comfort me at the mo, the female one only will because her brother is there.

My cat seems to hang even closer to me...when I'm not feeling well...or when he's not feeling well, but I always heard, maybe it's an old wives tale, that if a person is terminally ill a cat will shy away from them, even leave.  Has anyone ever heard that before?  Do they sense death coming?

Okay, only because my mum was talking to me about them just knowing something is different. When im ill the cats who dont normally come near me dont actually leave my side EVER!! ..

And its something they can sense or something my mum was saying!

I think it is just coincidence.  Every cat has their own temperment and personality.  Some are schmoozers and others are more independent.  I have 10 foster kittens right now, 5 male, 5 female, and some (male and female) want to be in lap or follow me around all the time and others (male and female) are more independent and exploritory.
