Throwing up daily

by April2, Oct 30, 2009 01:48PM
I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. Misha was put on antibiotics about a month ago for sneezing. She started throwing up then so I figured it was the antibiotics. I finished them up and it did seem to help the sneezing. However, she's still throwing up on a daily basis. Now I did mix a generic brand of cat food with her regular brand awhile back but it was after carefully reading the ingredients and seeing that they were the exact same ingredients so I mixed them half and half with her regular food. I did this once before. I'm wondering if she's throwing up from this (the other cat is fine and eats the same thing) or if it's a nervous stomach or something else? She acts healthy otherwise. She does tend to throw up when I take her to the vet so I do think she gets a nervous stomach. We've been letting the puppies out in the living room more now and sometimes they chase her, which we try to control.
Can someone help me figure this out and how I can help her tummy feel better?

My guess is that it's the food.  Some cats have more sensitive stomachs than others.  Maybe Misha's tummy is just more sensitive than Sakura's.  That's possible.  I would go back to the other food and see how she does.

Yeah, that would probably be a good first step to trying to discover what the throwing up is all about. I was just finishing up this one anyway. I'll go back to just full strength on her regular food but if she still keeps getting sick I'm not sure what the next step would be. Oh well, I'll start with this one and take it from there. Thanks, ZQ.

There's a good chance that switching back to the old food will work.  I've got my fingers crossed!!  =)  Please come back and let me know how she's doing!

Take care, April.  I hope that you're feeling better, too.

So...how's Misha doing today? Please April, come back with updates. I've not been online for quite some time, but now that I read this, I will pray so you can nurse her back to health soon.

Hi April, I don't remember, but was Misha ever tested for herpes?.  The sneezing is a sign, I'm afraid.  Now the vomitting :(   I think Misha also had an eye problem if I remember correctly?  I don't believe herpes will show up in general bloodwork.  It is a test you must request.  Our vet told us a very high percentage of kittys have herpes :(

I know from experience that antibiotics will give the illusion kitty is cured, but it will only be temporary.

I am praying for the best for Misha.
