Yes, there is. The drug is called tapazole. It is inexpensive and could eventually be a lifesaver. Hyperthyroid cats can get damage to the heart if this condition is not treated.

hi and welcome to our forum. I personally can't give you any advice on hyperthyroidism but I can send you a site that hopefully can answer some of you're questions. You really need to discuss all the options available with you're Vet.

ps -- also factor the inconvenience of giving the meds into your decision-making.
I guess it would depend on the seriousness of the issue with the thyroid. Certainly there are medications. Ask your doctor if they would be as effective and would not have dangerous side effects.
