Urine

Sunshine stop using her litter box and insteads poops beside it.  We have three litter boxes that is kept clean and she still refuses to use any of them except to urinate.  Her urine is so strong you can smell it sometimes in the vents.  The basement smells awlful unless we change it everyday.  What could this be from?  She drinks plenty of water and I have always said she has a eating disorder.  She is hugh

Hi, I've got a couple of ideas!!  The strong urine smell could be from a bladder infection.  You might want to get her checked for that.  Also, if you don't use the scoopable kind, the smell gets really bad.  A lot of us on this forum use the scoopable litter.....it is soooo much better!

As for the pooping outside the litter box, my cat does this too-sometimes.  She will only poop in the box, IF there is no urine in there at all.  One spot of urine in the box, and she goes on the floor.  All I can say is, thank God that her poop is solid!!!  LOL  Anyway, maybe your cat is the same way as mine!
