What could this bump be at this location?

My cat has a bump at the bottom of his opening of mouth at chin and he acts strange when eating. Could it be a stone in his saliva gland...and he scratches at it.. Lost interest in eating.. would appreciate an answer asap.. thanks It is under skin

hi, I will send you an article and some photos...this sounds very much like a type of Eosinophilic Granuloma specifically RODENT ULCER which do appear on the lips...it is usually always caused by DIET and an allergy to the type of protien or an ingredient in the food...this is most common in cats that are fed dry food...let us know what exactly your cats diet consists of.
look at the photos....

thanks for your comment, he is eating but not enthusiastically , the bump has gone down it is at the tip of his lower chin as he opens his mouth. I just had a serious fall and can hardly walk so I know I need to get in he has had this for a couple of years... the assistant felt it and said watch it, but I know it bothers him as he tries to scratch it.. thanks

Hi Cp,

This sounds like your kit needs to be seen by your vet--ASAP!

Could be enlarged lymph node , but if it is preventing your cat from eating it is serious. My cat had a condition called Stomatitis which caused her lymph nodes to be enlarged due to infection inflammation. If your cat is not eating it must be in great pain upon swallowing.

Please get back to us and let us know what the vet says--we worry with you!
