Did anyone ever find out what the spots were? I'm having the same issue of small brown/red blood spots on my sheets. My cats love to sleep on my bed during the day. To me they look like small red tiny dried up boogers but I don't know. Also no sign of bed bugs.
I've noticed this from my cat too. I have no sign of bed bugs and he is an indoor cat always. He was dehydrated as a kitten so had blood in urine, ate a bad flea from a friend, and was treated for both. He sure looks and acts healthy, but these blood spots are showing up every 3-4 days on my white sheets. Guess I will be back to vet again. Worried something is eating him. The vet applied revolution to back of his neck regularly and he had an ivermectin shot last month so I just don't know.
we are not Vets on this site.....but IMO yes she could well be showing signs of giving birth real soon...good luck:)
My 10 month old pregnant kitten sleeps on the foot of my daughters bed and noticed 3 largish blood spots on her bed ( slightly smaller than a drawing pin head ) I dont know how far along in the pregnancy she but can feel kittens move and see them move in her tummy ... it wasnt a planned pregnancy could she be showing signs of giving birth in the next 48 hours???
My babies are all indoors too...been treated with Revolution too...but I have one who is allergic to fleas and flea dirt is just what I find on him all the time....It's so frustrating to me because he never and I mean never goes outside...and is treated regularly, but still seems to be the flea magnet...Of course can bring the fleas in from the yard...who knows??
No flea dirt, treated with Revolution. Also an indoor cat. I am now thinking it may have been food colouring in a food...and the symptoms are waining....so thanks to all who responded. Oisie is one fine feline....
Enjoy your day
My first reaction was flea dirt too, if the spots are about the size of a pin head then it sounds like flea dirt, buy a good stainless steel flea comb and comb your cat daily to get out the fleas, I usually put the fleas into a cup of soapy water and the fleas will die. The bonus is cats love to be combed and you are getting excess hair off the cat as well which will help to stop furballs.
If they are very small blood spots it could be flea dirt. Have you combed her out with a flea comb anytime recently?
Thank you....she along with my other three rescues all have canned food twice a day with a dry food accompanyment....very spoiled cats and well worth it. Oisie had a tough life before I rescued her so she is extremely special to me and hoped that nothing serious was wrong.
Thanks again for your information..
Enjoy your day.
It could be a result of occassional constipation (leading to hemorrhoids), or a poorly healed paw/claw injury that keeps reopening (check and distend the claws to see if they hurt and are fine).
It also could be a dental issue. Kitty may be hurting her gums when eating hard/dry foods. I'd take a look at her gums and teeth as well.
I can't think of any other simple answers for a healthy cat with occassional spotting/bleeding. Usually it's one of the above. Science diet is a good food, but you may want to offer some sort of wet food (can or two a day), as not enough wet food will cause constipation from dehydration leading to the above mentioned hemorrhoidal issues (Kitties will get about 80% of their hydration needs from her food, not the water dish!)
