Two days ago we received a 12 week old siamese female kitty. Her eyes are sunken, she squints, there is a yellowish discharge from both eyes. The person we got her from said she had been kept outside mostly w/her mommy and brothers (there seemed to be no problems w/them... they were all bright and clear eyed), she was described as having allergies from being outside. She has sneezed a few times a day since coming home w/us. I keep bathing her eye in warm water, she doesnt seem to have any pain or problems w/ me doing that. I have 6 kids, I don't need pink eye going around the house, but if so ... so be it. I really just cannot afford a vet right now... any suggestions or advice of what to do at home?
hi and welcome....what your little kitten most likely has is one of the virus's or combo of two..Calici and Herpes or a URI...(upper respiratory infection)..its very important to support the immune system of these kittens..with a strong immune system they can out grow these virus's and be healthy, if not they will stop eating and began to fail quickly and this can be fatal...(will not spread to the children, cat only virus)
I will copy out info I just gave to another member yesterday concerning 2 supplements that this kitty MUST have to help with recovery. especially the L-lysine if money is a factor, at least PLEASE get this one or kitty will soon become very ill...
good luck and keep us posted. read thru the following post and links.
