about stray cats

I have a lot of stray cat in my yard. I just took two female up to the vet to get they spayed. The vet did clip their ears and they were out of it when I picked them up. My question is am not sure it the vet fixed them. I checked their stomachs and didn't see anything. No shaving or anything. Called the vet's office who told me for sure they are fixed. The other cats I have taken to the vet were shaved. Is it possible for them to be fixed even though they were not cut open. I am beside myself

Are they males or females. Vets sometimes use glue to close insision.

Oh something very fishy is going on!!!!! They were definitely not spayed if there is no evidence of an incision. Is this a reputable Vet clinic???? What were you charged?

Hello and welcome....huh, that's bizarre, I agree.  Not only should they be shaved, but there should be an obvious SURGICAL incision.
