bloody discharge from rectum - female cat
Hi, my cat papi is an extremely friendly cat around 4 years old, however she's started having problems when she goes to the toilet..she gets constipated and then her faeces come out and they are a dark brown and a little bit runny...once off the toilet, she then has a little bit of watery blood discharge from her rectum...she is still in the best of moods and straight after she gets off the litter box she comes over for a pat and a cuddle...i want to know if this may be due to me changing her food from soft to biscuits, or whether this could be a lot more serious.  I await your answer in anticipation.

What type of diet is your kitty eating? If it's chiefly dry food, she could be dehydrated (about 80% of kitty's water intake is from food).

You should give wet as well, or try "force feeding" a half a feeding syringe of water morning and night.

If a vet is an option, you should get her checked. Blood indicates possible tearing which can lead to infection and blockages.
