calcivirus in a feral cat

I am taking care of 8 feral cats and I love them dearly. now one of them was acting sort of ill and I mentioned to my friend this and it seems that she has calchivirus. now how do I treat this in a feral cat? none of the others have seems to display this. he is not eating and is drooling (I had a cat before and she had this so I recognize it).he was also sneezing a bit but not too much. What can I do for Rocky my little black polydactle  I am worried about him but what can I do for a feral cat as he will not let me get close to him.

he is eating like a pig i think the worst has passed. bless him he still has his little tongue sticking out but he is better every day.

Thats good news nancy I hope he starts eating well ....glad that drooling stopped as seemed he may have been in pain .

suddenly today he is feeling much better. he hasnt stopped breathing with this mouth open but he is no longer drooling and came right up to me at feeding time and the other cats seem to be getting closer to him. I believe he is on the mend. calicirvirus only last like 2 weeks and it has been a week now so lets hope he is getting better...

Do you have a friend or neighbor can help you at all ask the vet 's office for an idea .Is it far .put an ad in for a ride ..whre I live the vet will rent out very cheaply a trap and the animal shelters will do it with a $10 deposit they refund back to you when the trap is returned...hope you get some help good luck

thgis is good but how can i get him to a vet as I have no car and as I am a resident of a nursing home (I had a stroke in december) it is impossible to get him there. I have no car, no trap, damn!

a friend  in the know says he may have bartonella. luckily they will be can be treated in the same way...

he is trapped and neutered thank goodness. I am just worried about him. he does drink water and yesterday I fed him on his own a whole can of fancy feast. I am going to the humane shelter today to see about him. thanks

If he is not eating so drinking is crucial so he will need treatment or  he will dehydrate, your local shelter will rent at about $10 then give you that back, for the traps .

hi Nance you could try trapping him put the food in a cat box and when he goes in shut the door,take him to the vet for treatment maybe also shots and a 'fix ' ..great you are feeding them ,we have a lot in my area and a little gorgeus male has come by for a year now , will not let me touch him but he sits at a distance looking adoringly,he also tries to get familiar with my Tweety  my only pet.. ..I have to move soon but the woman buying my house has said she will take him on. they do need fixing and shots and trapping is the only way then  the returning them to whence they came... good luck
