cat tumor

My cat has had a growth for about a year now, within the last 6 mo it has gotten so much bigger and in about the last month it has started to have sores and bleed. I've taken her to the vet. I have waited to do something until now because it has not been bothering her. But now it is bleeding. She is about 10 yrs old. I've had blood work done and she had hyperthyroidism. I just found this out, I haven't treated her for this yet. She has lost 1lb in 4 mo. She is a small cat, only weighing 6 lbs. I just found out I'm pregnant. I am worrying about the money it would cost me. I feel I need to put her down, bc of money issues and if the cancer could come back. My vet doesn't give me much options other than blood work, medicine, and tumor removal. I'm posting a picture bc I would like opinions on the tumor. I feel it has to be cancerous. I feel if I knew it was cancerous then I would feel better about putting her to sleep. I don't want, but feel I have a hard decision to make. Please help.

Your poor kitty. This looks like it would be very painful.  Where is the growth
located ? You can't tell from the picture. With all due respect, you said
your kitty has had this growth for a year. Why have you waited so long to
treat this ? I agree with Opus88. You need to find a vet that is willing to
give you an honest opinion. Are you saying you don't know whether the
growth is cancerous ?  I'm fairly sure if a vet were to give your kitty a
blood test they could determine if the growth were cancerous. Blood tests
are not that expensive. We've had a few routine blood tests done on our
nine year old male cat. The fact that this growth is now bleeding is very
concerning.  The growth may not be cancer, but you have to find out for
your kitty's sake. If I were you, I would find another vet and get a second
opinion and quickly as possible. Your kitty deserves this. Ten years old
is not really old for a cat by the way.

Oh your poor dear kitty, this looks very concerning. What is your Vet telling you? Other than removal he must have an opinion for heavens sakes. I am not a Vet, but I have worked within the human medical field for 20 years and to me it looks very suspicious. Find a Vet that is willing to give an honest opinion your kitty has gone far too long without medical care.
