death after rabies shot? R.I.P. Baby

so after a whole day of questioning myself and crying my eyes out, i was thinking, after my Baby bumped her head, she appeared to be fine, or at least better, and about 24 hours after she had her rabies shot, she died. is it possible the doc made a mistake by giving her the rabies shot while she was on antibiotics? she only weight 3 pounds and 3 oz and the doc told me to give her a higher dose of antibiotics, 0.35 instead of 0.2 which i was giving her twice a day for the last 14 days, and then on top of all this the rabies shot. i'm not so sure if that all together didn't kill her, i about 30 hours. has anyone any idea about this? maybe i'm just paranoid, but i really wanna know who killed my Baby.

How old did you say she was? I didn't think they gave the rabies shot before 5 or 6 months. I could be wrong. I just remembered getting my cat's first rabies shot when I went to get her fixed and she was about that age.
I do think they should have waited to give the rabies shot until she was in better shape. She may have already had a weakened immune system from the injury, etc.
I don't know what else to tell you. You may want to talk to your vet about this.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it must be so hard going through this.
I hope you can adopt another kitty and give your love to soon. There are so many unwanted kitties out there who need a good home.

Hi, you are sooo right!  Your vet had absolutely no business giving your cat ANY vaccine while a cat is sick.  The vet should've known better than that!!  My vet has refused to give my cats a shot in the past when they were sick, and I've done research on this just to confirm it!

Also, have  you looked up reactions to the rabies vaccine yet?  I believe it can cause brain inflammation, among other side effects.  So, if you're kitten had an injury to her brain and that caused inflammation, then the vaccine might have made it worse.

I'm just brainstorming, But, all any of us on this forum can do is to make guesses.  But, just remember that second-guessing yourself sick is not going to help you.  And, in your heart you know that stress can make you sick.  Find ways to destress so you can relax and wait for your heart to heal!

I'm so sorry you lost your little Baby in such an awful way. In 1990 I lost a cat to anaphylactic shock because she was give all of her vaccines at once. The vet I took her too wanted me to give her a tranquilizer because she was hard to handle before I brought her. So the combination of the tranquilizer and one or more of the vaccines killed her.

I know what you're going through. I blamed myself for years for Kyra's death. It doesn't do any good and it won't change things. All we can do is be more aware and do things differently in the future. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Baby is in Heaven now, She's in her perfect little body and she'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you.

I'm sorry to hear this. My family cat just died after getting a rabies vaccine. I am a mixture of emotions right now. I wish the dangers of rabies vaccine to cats was more common knowledge... maybe then our friend would still be with us.
