eye removal

i rescued a kitten 10 months ago from a sure death... she had upper respertory problems & eyes were awful... took to vet got meds.. got her fixed & all shots.. one eye tho never really went back to normal... the lid would only open 1/2 way.. we used meds to help fight infection. sometimes she would openit & it looked normal... other times it remained closed.. the other day she went missing.. we found her & her eye was ***** & swollen... took to vet.. it had ruptured... the vet removed eye & sewed her up (poor kitty) now her one good eye is totally dilated & fixed...
she did not have pre surgery testing...money was a hugh factor in this...she has been on anti's & pain meds... will her eye ever go back to normal??? she can see the white string i pull across my wood floors but cannot see it if i hang it in front of her face....
thanx for any info

Oh poor kitty is right, ur so good to take this poor little soul in and care for her.
did the vet inspect the other eye?...did he give you any antibiotics or drops for the eye?
dilated and fixed...really doesn't sound like an infection tho does it??
I wish I could answer you're question better.
is she eating? does she appear to be in pain?
I know u said $$$ is a huge factor, but if you wish to help this kitty out you may have to see the vet again and find out whats wrong b4 she looses another eye.
My one kitty 5 yrs ago had to have an eye removed due to high blood pressure and also the eye tissue dying b4 we got a proper diagnosis and treatment for the BP.
He made out real good with the one eye only...
pls let us know how kitty makes out,
maybe try posting to Thomas the vet tech on this forum, although I havent seen a post from him for awhile now
go to the right of this screen and scroll way down until you get to the box that says EXPERT ACTIVITY.....click on one of the vets there and post them and I sure hope you can get some info..
all the best to you both
