I have two cats, one of 4 years and one of 11 years.
my 11 year old cat has just started taking medication - 1 crystalCrystal b-12 pill twiceTwice-a-day a day and 1 nisamox pill twiceTwice-a-day a day
i've been trying different ways to make her swallow the pills and last night i tried it in her food.
i didn't realise my 4 year old cat was in the house and he had eaten the bowl of food with the pills in.
at 4 this morning he was wretching but didn't vomit amd went back to sleep. he's slept all day and tonight just looks doopy, and out of it.
i thought it would have worn off him by now
i'm calling the vets when it opens in the morning but i'm just quite worried something is wrong with him.
You need to be more specific! Write the names of the medication exactly as it says on the bottle. If it's one single dose, I don't think that would harm the cat. I am guessing here. Now, if it was a bunch of pills that fell in their bowl and the cat ate the food, then I'd be more worried.
I'd still call the vet or call the emergency vet for advice. They will give you free advice over the phone. And, in the morning call your vet and tell them to suggest ways to give your kitty medicines. They know lots of tricks. Another option is, taking the pills to a compounding pharmacy-they will smash the pills up and make it into liquid form-and you'd give it in a syringe to your cat.
Some cats are a royal pain in the booty to give meds to. Thank God, mine's easy.
