Neutering is GOOD! And I don't see why you can't keep your cat indoors at all times? If it is stressing him out to go outside now just keep him in. It will keep him safer. The other cats are most likely coming around because they know your cat is there. Keeping him indoors may cause the other cats to go away.

Heya;

Just today my youngest, Chesapeake, was riled up by one of the neighborhood free-range cats.  They like to come up to our windows, especially the patio door.

Chessie was pounding that glass like a boxer doing speed-bag work.

None of my kitties has had contact with a cat who is not a member of the household, though.

Keep you boy in, or under close watch when outside.

My 3 girls who do go out, do so only when both my wife and I are there to watch and make sure they do not wander.

It is both safer and healthier.

take care - Pip

I would keep the cat inside at all times.

Why? You may ask.
Because that way you are keping your cat safe. Stray cats, as you may already know, carry diseases that could be transmitted through the saliva, or even a mild skin contact. They have fungal infections, ticks, fleas, rabies etc. Try to keep your cat from getting near the strays by keeping him in the house. That's what I'd do.

NOOOO its a 'good' you have desexed your cat, it would bring many more intruders if you hadn't.
I would suggest keeping him during the night or he will be in danger of getting beat up by these strays...and he is terrified too.
there are battery operated animal look alikes that you can put out on the fence or near your house at night that will activate an alarm when a stray walks past, they aren't very expensive..I've seen them at pet supple stores.
Other than that I'm sorry I have no solutions, but I do strongly suggest you keep your kitty in the house at night...his safety is at stake.
