One less - white boy :-(
Two days after - this one didnt suffered I guess.They were all sucking, after that a start feeling him quieter and quieter... Yes I hang him upside down but was useless...
No one had suffocated him,I was watching
The fact both died with mouth open makes the vet believe in virus respiratory problem and that news was terrible since it means all can died.I been keeping phone contact with her but didnt call her home cos for the things she said I dont believe she will try something,she's afraid of doing everything cos they re too young.and light.
Barely leave home those days but for sure missed you all.Today I'm feeling better and a little more hopeful, babies keep playing, sucking and growing and yesterday night after mother leaving them a little fast they start such a loud meowing that a weak baby lung couldnt produce... My only worry at that moment ( I still have it) was about mother leaving ( after that she came back about 1am) and they finish dying for not feeding.Still wondering if i should buy a cat milk today cos tomorrow wont be possible,store will be closed.But vet turned his nose for the milk as well, she said it caused another patient kittens to dying from diarrea (diarrhea).Milk is not exactly cheap but i would had bought if she didnt had desestimulated me. Point is,most of the vets are not quite familiar to cats and I had no time and/ or money to discover the best yet.
Mine is a cool person and talks a lot but just talking and waiting is a little frustrating.
On the other hand Mother Nature is doing her part.maybe things can end ok anyway.
About Loreena,after arriving home about I AM she stayed with the family till 1pm today just leaving the place to drink and eat during the period -I started worring about,but by the time a left home she decided takiing a nap at the backyard
Im also worried about she's beeing "found " of male cats alredy 2 vets say is already possible and i cant not  keep her closed all the time nor send her to be castrated now because of the babies."MOTHER's TEEN"

One funny things to relax;
Yesterday I was leaving with a plate of little pumpkins peels to thrown away .She came near me wishing that.I gave her - and for my surprise she ate! I got a little worried about pesticides and chemicals there but the vet say give it and I did.Its possible that big interest in eating green had come from I'd been manipulating chicken tablets to put on my own food,and the smell could be in my hands,Girl is really crazy about meat,poor one. Bought some sticks for her, I'm using tjoseto try to convince her open the month- not very succesful yet.I'm afraid a will need more packages,they are quite small...
Thats all, hope my mood and the situation be the same when I return home.

Oh no, White Boy too :(  Sorry to hear that, AppleBr.  The kittens are getting older by the day and I would hope, stronger with age, too.  Glad other 5 kittens seem fine so far.  

I think you're worried about mom leaving and getting pregnant again?  Yes, that is a worry.  When the time is right for her to be spayed and she does happen to be pregnant, kittens can be aborted during spaying, I believe.  If you approve of that, of course.  

You're doing such a great job, you and Loreena.  I am certainly praying for a happy ending for everyone!

I'm not sure, but after 11days I would think mom being away at night is okay for the babies as long as she feeds throughout the day.  I hope so anyway...

Oh honey I am so sorry you lost 'white boy' too....yes it must be something viral...everyday makes the others more strong and hope they are able to fight this off and be ok..
don't feed the babies milk,,,they are much too young to drink on their own and would aspirate(drown in the fluids)....
Loreena needs lots of extra protein right now to make lots of milk for her babies, make sure she gets lots of meat to eat and anything else she is craving like fruits or vegetables..
don't worry abt her leaving for longer periods of time now, the older the babies get the longer she'll leave them now...they are old enough to go without eating for longer intervals...so mommy will take a rest from them often...not to worry about.

Sorry you lost a second kitten.  As the kittens get older, though, they should continue to get stronger and stronger and more able to fight off any possible infections.

Eyes are opening...Loreena nipples are bigger - and half of my house is now hers -I 'm only keeping her away from kitchen and bedroom.
That trainning for opening the mouth is not working very well, but she would accept the suplement with a small piece of bread.But I better insist on that cos another remedie she can eventually need cannot taste so good as this one.
Tonight rained a lot,I felt very confortable in knowing they were all in a dry place -but not so sure she wont take a rain shower (she had sleep during the day under a washed dropping towel put to dry :-) )

Now about training to open the mouth.  You are trying to get Loreena to take a supplement of some sort?  This worked with a piece of bread?  I've read all your posts (I thought) but I'm not sure what's going on and why you need to do this?  Maybe I missed something...wouldn't be the first time lol...

Yes, I'm giving her a calcium plus vitamines supplement twice a day for helping with nursing.Maybe I should be taking some as well, even not beeing in the same situation - one need energy to take care of cats :-)
Its a liquid one and the vet had told me to use a syringe and i keep doing that but many times the med is sprayed around her mouth.But there's no problem since she licks all ...
She ate that with bread when I gave her,but i guess its better trainning her now , can be useful in the future.
Somedays she does quite well,guess she's learning

Seens like its helping, she's a lot lazy but the babies are growing - yes they are sooooo cute!!! -and looking pleased.All Loreena has being  doing last days is eating, drinking and nursing,she's  staying home a lot now but I guess this is normal,she's just tired .Now she knows there's an open window maybe fells no urge to leave the place.

Oh, I see.  A calcium supplement.  I'm glad Loreena seems to be taking it with minimal problem.  These supplements usually taste pretty good to cats, I've found.  We give Jade a Lysine supplement and she will lick it off the spoon.  Yes, VERY good to train her now.  I have learned cats can end up needing to be medicated for a variety of reasons.  Not just sickness, but maybe they get hurt or maybe they have kittens :)  When you have a cat, you must be ready for anything!

If she can now come and go through the window, I can see she would be more relaxed, that's good.  Loreena sounds like an awesome mama and you too, AppleBr.  I know Loreena appreciates all your help and feels like she is not alone in raising her babies :)

BTW, now I miss the kitchen door that was removed cos was only wasting free space.I have to be the door when she's dissimulately sleeping in the living room - and waiting for the moment I will not pay attention to run into. ;-)
Thank you for the kind words, I always loved cats and if that came at the worst time,what can I do? Just have to come back to the adoption project that was posponed after the bad happenings but I'm still afraid of.

BABIES ARE 20 DAYS NOW!
Cute and active! Trying not not be too much hopeful but I guess all is doing great and I'm happy for!!!
Loreena is a lot boring now when it comes to eating,she always leave  bitten peaces of on the bowl and so asks for a new portion.I have to return to feeding her on appropriate times but I still feel pity.
White boyfriend its still around - oh MY! Again?? :-)

I've no better idea for girls so I call then Joy and Lucky - but I cant say who is who since they are absolutelly equal...
The white one that died would be Freddie (after F.Mercury),its the one i'm sure will keep the name he got just after pass away, since the others are supposed to be adoppted.

Guess I know the house "bad fellow" lives on - at least I saw him entering there twice. But unfortunatelly I had not met those neighbours recently to  confirm it and inform them the guy was father of 6 and  would appreciate some monetary help to pay Loreena's surgery and/ or vaccines for the kittens.,,
Sort of "you dont need "spoil" your cat, I gladly do it in mine"
Since the news are not so "fantastic", I dont have courage of ring their bell for,,, I mean, they are polite persons but it doesnt mean they will help...

yes you should gently bring up the fact with your neighbours that maybe they should consider getting the bad boy fixed...its not good that he should wonder about making more mouths to feed....if you asked for some help with costs maybe they would think more to allowing him to just roam and impregnate.....paternity costs!!...

Have a pleasant visit and just drop alot of hints...so they really arn't sure if 'this woman' is serious or not, but will get the thoughts working in their minds???

The girl that will be adoppted by my friend will be called Sigwa - doesnt mean nothing for me but its a princess or so and it was also the name of her previous cat death she was anxiously waiting to 'reborn'.
But I dont care for the name, all I want is her having a good home - and news if possible!
Yeah, Freddie was great - and SIMON, if you dont noticed is after Paul Simon (the singer, not the politician :-)  that I love even more - and gladly is still alive!
Believe, when he's sleepy and keep the eyes semi-closed  both are quite similar..

Congratulations on kittens 1month birthday!  What a wonderful story yours has turned out to be!!  Hahaha...I am not great at cooking either so we will definitely exchange virtual cakes so we don't get sick lol!!  

I saw your journal...you may want to set up a litter box and just put the babies in...scratch and show them yourself if Loreena isn't using the box.  What are the babies using for potty currently?  Newspaper?

Babies are using nothing currently, they are still in the box and Loreena keeps licking and cleaning  them - mercifully
But yesterday rained a lot and since she had already left the place and came back wet - what makes me try to dry her and she hates - she decided start using the stuff again :-)
I'm not liking that product I bought,its not exactly the way I was expecting but its the cheapest one, so we have do get used to .

I will post some more journals when get time for.

PS Spot left the box yesterday night - it was sort of "by accident", he  was trying and fell outside, but he did! Keeps trying but other accasions didnt work .They all hang thenselves on the box side and Loreena stimulates them to jump !

I think Loreena is trying to get them to jump outside their 'bedroom' box so she can teach them to use somewhere else for a potty...you will need to put a litter box near for them to use so she doesn't take them outside to teach them..

Oh, happy times that the kittens are a month old!  That is very good news, because it means they are strong and healthy.  And, for them to be encouraged to climb out of the box themselves by Loreena is very healthy for them, because it will build their muscles up stronger.  You are a good kitty mommy.  It's hard not to get attached to the little kittens--and so tempting to keep them, even when you know you can't possibly keep so many cats.

Spot jumped - better saying feel out - the box the birthday day first time!
Now he's becoming expert in doing that! Problem is he doesnt know how to come back and Loreena wont put him back there so guess who have to do it? :-)
He's also the only that is trying solid food. Dry one for kittens.
The portion I prepared adding warm water to, Loreena liked more than the babies.inclusive the dish so its common you see Her eating and the babies just surrounding her.
I cant leave adult food near or the damn smart one will try that!
All the others had no courage to jump yet so sometimes I pick them and put ouside - but I think I should not be doing that, I have to use Mother's Cat pedagogy even when it seems hard for me!

I love this thread, too.  It's such a happy thread.  I miss being around tiny kittens.  It is definitely hard to part with them when they're old enough to go to new homes.  Like Opus said, they really do wrap themselves around our hearts.  I'm so glad you have homes lined up for them with friends who will let you hear back how the little ones are doing when they are in their new homes.  I know that will make it easier to part with them  It still won't be easy, because who can help themselves from becoming so attached to the little darlings.
