kitten with fever and ataxia

I have an 8 week old part siamese kitten. Last night I noticed she was limping with a front leg. Later when I checked on her I found her to have a high fever. I stopped by the vet and bought some amoxicillan for the fever. When I arrived home, the kitten now has ataxia. Sort of walking on front elbows and pretty wobbly on the back legs. She has no other symptoms. She has an appetite and I was able to feed her and also gave sugar water to help give her a boost plus some nutrical.
At first when she presented with the "hurt front leg" I thought she perhaps tried climbimg a child gaurd gate I have in the doorway to keep the kittens in the room as some of the other ones do this. But now that this seems to be progressing, I do not think this is the case.
I have researched on line FIP and she does not have most of the syptoms. She does not have diarrhea, any respitory problems, swollen belly, et only the fever and ataxia. She also does not appear to be in any kind of pain.
Any clue as to what this could be?

The high fever finally broke and she seems more alert than she was (was alert before but more so now ie watching my every move et) When I picked her up after the fever had broke she just purred so loud, which I have never witnessed her do until now as she has been a shy kitty. However she is still wobbly n weak. I think this high fever must be what has caused this and I pray any possible brain damage she will pull out of. I have also been researching the net and it is possible she did injur her brain in the area of the bodies temp control which could have caused the fever, but I think the fever came first. She is really lapping up the sugar water I am giving her thru syringe, but so so still on the baby food thru syringe. She is not under weight so I do not think a day or two without major food will hurt her. I am giving her nutrical and keeping her hydrated.
As for the vet, I know him pretty well and he knows this kitten. He is only open half day on Sat. so I caught him just before he was leaving to buy some amoxi. The major symtoms did not appear until after I had gotten home and after vet was gone for rest of weekend. We live in rural area and no emergancy centers close and besides I do not have enough $$ for a visit to one let alone treatment of any kind. These darn situations always seem to arrise on weeks when one has had to pay unexpected expenses and is broke lol! God always makes a way tho!!!
TYVM for answering my post!

This really sounds like a brain or spinal cord injury to me.  You should get your vet to take some x-rays to see what's going on.
