scabs behind the ears

I've noticed my cat has got some scabs behind his ears, he has just been wormed and doesn't have fleas. He's washing there a lot and when he does it makes his back legs tremble. I can't afford the vets for another couple of weeks and am wondering what the problem is and if there's anything i can do to help him until i can take him, thanks!

Very many thanks for excellent advice, it actually matches up with a recent change in his brand of kibbles. I found the article you linked to interesting, an eye opener! I have since changed back to former brand and started occasionally giving him meat instead in case it continues and i do have to take him right off dry. Anyway i will let you know and again many thanks from both of us:)....p.s i'm Andrew btw the johnstrang thing a long story!!

hi John and welcome this is actually quite a common problem and usually always due to food allergies or intolerances. especially to the carbs contained in dry food. I will send you a link to a very good article, if I can help you understand all this or make some changes please post again.....
If kitty is eating dry food, it is very important that the first thing you try is a good diet of canned food and preferably with no GRAINS....change over slowly so as not to cause diarrhea ...let us know how it goes. good luck
