My cat "Pirate" (less than 1 yr old) first developed an open sore on his belly, as if an abscess had burst. That healed nicely. But now he has patches of scaly skin on lower back and tail. He has these on it's belly too, but on belly the hair seems to comes of w/ the scaly skin. Around the head pirate has small sores w/ scabs on them. He doesn't like me touching any of it. The scabs are the size of a pinhead to the size of a pencil eraser. No change in appetite, activity, or stool. I am on disability and CANNOT afford a vet. Can anyone give me any insight into what is happening to my little buddy? I feel like I am letting him down. Can anyone tell me how to help Pirate??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, I have another cat that has developed an open sore like Pirate had on his belly. This cats sore is on it's front shoulder. It doesn't appear to be bothering her, but it looks bad. No puss very little blood. But definatly open through all layers of skin, to the muscle. Is this something contagious. Somebady please help me I'm freaking out.
hi....so sorry to read about your poor kitties I can only imagine how they are suffering.
I am sending you a couple sites one on mange and the other on Eosinophilic granduloma complex....caused by allergies, usually to the food or to flea bites. look at both sites and see if you find something that looks familiar.
