skin removed on cat

My cat had a small deep wound (size of a quarter) on his side so I took him to the vet. To make a long story, short... He got a bad infection, had nacrotic tissue removed, then had a huge area (about 6 inches in diameter) of dead skin removed on his hind quarter. Anyway, I was wondering what the best way for this to heal is. I got two different opinions from the vets office. One vet wants to stretch the skin closed over time and the other says to keep it covered and wait for the skin to grow back.

I would think pulling the skin together would be easier and faster than waiting for the skin to grow back...but I'm definitely no expert on this. Either way, I hope it heals soon, so your  kitty feels better!

Option 1: let the skin grow back . Option 2: pull the skin together.

That is possibly the best way to go. You don't mention the other option...?
