unhealing limb

Hi! My cats name is Tigger and sometime in september 2010 he was missing for 2 days and finally he came back...but with one of his back leggs completely broke off and danging by a little bit of skin. i rushed him to the vet but they hat to remove his leg, cause it was already infected. i kept him inside till he healed. but when i put him outside he CONSTANTLY bumps his "nub" its january 2012 and he still hits it dailey scraping off chunks of skin! hes in constant pain! i also worry about him scraping it to the bone! should i take him to the vet and have them take off his leg???? so he will just heal completely and stop falling of it or scratching it? right now only his foot is gone, and i would feel terrible putting him through that kind of pain again. but he hurts all the time anyway!

I am not a Vet....but I do recommend you do take this poor kitty in for an exam, perhaps theres away to protect the limb from constant rubbing, or yes it may need to be further amputated for his comfort, poor little guy. sure hope he gets the help he drastically needs.....♥
