upset stomach solution for cat

Is there any thing palatable for a cat to take for upset stomach.Poor Puddie keeps eating the wheat grass and has no appetite.

A great tool that can help with the appetite booster is something called Pill Pocket, which you can get at any pet shop. It is a mini 'thingie' which tastes like heaven to them. You put the pill inside and they will be thrilled to eat it. They sometimes even ask for more. To them, they are just getting spoiled, you know. Take a look:

And so you are preventing the stress factor as well. Glad his temp is back to normal. Keep an eye on it and keep me posted.

Thanks for the hint. He is a hefty cat and very hard to open his mouth, but if I have to I will pin him in a  towel. So far he is drinking on his own. Took him to vet. Temp is normal 102. He said the range is 100-102. Still on Clavamox. Gave him 1/2 tablet of appetite booster. Boy did he try and spit it out. Like I said, he doesn't like me in his mouth. He seems more alert so I hope that is a signal that he is starting to feel better. The beginning of Aug he weighed 16.6. Tonight he is 15.9 but the vet said he is still in normal range and once he starts to eat (I am praying for that) he'll be able to poop and pee regularly.

Don't worry. Everyone can access those photos and yes. He is a beautiful cat. Adorable! And it is sad that he is sick like that. Here is how you can keep him hydrated:

It is not easy to keep a cat hydrated but it can be done.  Grab a syringe or an eye dropper with water, and open the cat's mouth. Gently insert the syringe or dropper into the cat's mouth, insert it through the side of the mouth as it tends to be easier. If kitty makes it difficult to do this, wrap him in a towel so you or the cat won't get hurt, and do your thing.

I just really hope he gets better. Keep us posted.

It is so comforting to have folks who care so much for our little critters.
I was taking out some Mahi Mahi to eat and put a few pieces in front of him. He ate up about a 2" square. In the past he never liked fish of any kind. Maybe his taste buds have changed. He puts his nose up to all the fancy feast, etc. he used to scarf it up like a starving cat. I am bringing him to vet tonight to check his temp. Right now he is sleeping peacefully and don't want to disturb. This is the first time he is curled up and sleeping soundly. You are right- good sleep. Hate to take him out tonight, but need to know his temp. He was 103 yesterday and then 100. I love this guy. I posted a picture of him in my photos, but don't know how to get one by my posted question. Wish you could see those big soulful eyes. Hopefully, he will pee soon.

ahhh, i understand how concerned ur, vets like human doctors at times have no answers...
a walk in clinic probably won't be able to help either as there I don't think they'd even have testing equipment?...
I know how concerned ur, but if puddie is drinking and peeing basically he is doing alright...like u say really sick of being poked and proded...after an enema it isn't uncommon not to poop for a few days especially if not eating...
allow him to rest up a day a get used to the fact that he's home again...and see what happens....sometimes rest is the best cure, but hey don't take my opinion if you still believe there is something wrong..you know puddie better than we or any vet does and do what u feel good abt doing.
this is all very unfortunate keep searching the internet u may possibly find more answers there than you're vets are able to supply???

Since Puddie didn't urinate all day yesterday, I was trying to figure out how to help him. I placed him in a shallow pan with baby shampoo and soaked his sore backside. He didn't like it, but immediately went to litter box and peed a little. I am still concerned that his appetite is poor but he is drinking water. Do not know what is wrong with this kitty and neither does the vet.

Well he came home, is more alert but hasn't used litter box (24 hrs). His appetite is small, He may be afraid to go in the box?? I think there is discomfort in his tail section but after 2 days at the vet they are clueless too. I am thinking of bringing him to the 24 hr specialist clinic which is quite expensive, but if they could help him, I would do anything. he stares at me. His backside must be bothering him since they gave him an enema to clear his intestines. This poor kitty has had it with the probing.
I wish I could give him a sitz bath to sooth his butt but he hasn't peed either which concerns me with kidney function.

Aw poor kitty. I'm glad you are doing everything you can to get to the bottom of this. Please come back with updates on Puddie. And I really, really hope he gets better.

Well Puddie is home and being watched carefully. He has eaten a little more than before, but not anywhere his appetite. He is having Clavamox to make sure any infection will go away. He was on IV for 2 days, had an enema, poked and probed. More blood tests and one for pancreatitis which should be ready tomorrow. Poor kitty looked for the little kitten Gigi (I returned her so he would stay quiet but he knows she is not here. Hope that doesn't deter his recovery. His temp was spiking from 103 to 101. Today normal. Hasn't used litter box yet, so that bears extreme watching. He definitely is not himself, but will keep praying that he gets better. Will call vet tomorrow for update.

Puddie has not thrown up, or had diarrhea. Actually they said today after xray that he is constipated. Bloodwork did not show any bacterial infection, but that was a few days ago when he had no fever. Asked him to do another blood.

I hope your kitty is doing better. I read this thread and could not help but feel bad for you both. If I may ask, what are the exact symptoms? Just diarrhea and loss of appetite? Tell me, has the vet done fecal? The fact that the blood work shows your cat is dehydrated does not really give much to work with. He will be dehydrated if he does not eat. The root cause is what's important here. And he had a fever? Perhaps your Puddie has a bacterial infection, a severe one. Has he been given any antibiotics at all? I sure hope they find the cure for your baby boy.

Upset stomach.....been there.....don't like it one bit. My cat used to bleed through the rectum, with constant, nonstop diarrhea. Turns out he is an IBD cat who may or may not end up with cancer in the colon so I am constantly monitoring him. Ok I deviated from the topic....please let me know about Puddie, k?

Thank you so much for caring. They were supposed to call me tonight at 6pm and didn't, so I don't know how he is at this point.
I have gone to this animal clinic for many years and did have some bad experiences, but also some good so I figured that this is the case with all of them. But went to their website and saw 3 out of 7 negative ones. That scared me. We'll see what happens.

How right your were. This morning, Puddie didn't look right. He hasn't eaten good for a couple of weeks. Went to the vet last week, they said his bloodwork was normal. Not so! Took him to the head vet and he looked over the blood and said he was dehydrated and had a fever. My poor kitty is now on IV and antibiotics and they don't know what is causing this. I posted another question about the drug Ponazuril given for coccidia. I had gotten a new kitty as a companion for him 2 weeks ago and her stool showed positive so they gave them both doses of this for two days. He immediately stopped eating his usual way and I thought maybe he was depressed because he went to the vet. Well, he is now there and I am devastated and can't stop crying. I pray that they will find out what's wrong with the best kitty I ever had.
So his upset stomach was serious.

When my red point Siamese was really sick, the vet recommended canned pumpkin for her, if I could get her to eat it.  Amazingly, cats do seem to like the stuff, even my picky Siamese.  The poor thing did seem to have an upset stomach a lot.  She learned to "go to your box" when I heard the telltale sound of you know what.  And, she did it in her box, just like people do in the toilet when our stomachs disagree with us.  My Siamese didn't have much of an appetite, so I did end up force feeding her at one time.  But, when I could get her to eat muffins, the vet said that was fine, as long as she was eating.  This was a cat who had gotten dangerously underweight and needed to get some calories in her any way I could get them into her.  The cat I have now likes muffins, too, and would scarf one down if I gave in and gave it to her, but this cat is allergic to grains, so she can't have any muffin or cake.  If you do try muffins, only get plain muffins.  

Umm, make sure you discuss these things with your cat's vet first, though, because loss of appetite usually means that something is wrong with kitty.
