Celiac Disease at Home Test - The Biocard

by JustMeok, Jun 27, 2008 03:56PM
Hi Everyone, I recently joined this community to ask questions. I've had CD symptoms for years, but didn't discover the cause, until I began "self-testing", by eliminating various foods, and eventually figured out wheat/gluten was the problem. Previous doctors, asssumed the problem was IBS. As a result, I went on to develop other problems.

I discovered an at home blood test last week called the Biocard. It's only $50 and will help with convincing doctors. Had I known about the test sooner, it would have saved me so much time. They're located in Canada, but do ship to other countries. I hope this helps someone.

Hi Miro, unfortunately, I didn't learn of the test until "after" I had jumped through hoops a few years, and eventually found a doctor to test me. So I have not personally ordered the Biocard, but I posted the link, just in case others were having difficulty finding a doctor to test them. It will make things much easier. Hopefully, it will be available in the u.s. soon. The price is very reasonable. :)

Hi,

Could you tell me what other problems you went on to develop, because me to have been going to many many specialist trying to convince them that whatever was happening to me was related to what I was eating and not one GI doctor ever thought that I maybe Celiac.  It was only about two months ago I came on this site and someone recommended Gluten Free diet which I had only heard about the week prior.  After many years of Stomach aillments I now suffer with near syncope which leaves me lethargic after an episode and also after a bowel movement.  This fatigue will go on for a few days with muscle weakness.  My blood for Celiac came back negative and now that I am on the Gluten Free diet am afraid to eat Gluten again to do the biopsy of the small intestine.
