I have Celiac Sprue

by Nate115, Jun 02, 2009 10:27PM
I have been diagnosed with having celiac sprue for going on 4 1/2 years now. Since being diagnosed I have tried many medications as well as had to have my entire colon removed due to reduced mobility of the intestines. Now I am having a problem with continued bloating and swelling of my feet and ankles, can anyone tell me what is causing the swelling? And how I can get rid of the bloating, water pills don't work.

Nate, are you following a strict gluten-free diet?

In general, swelling of the feet and ankles can be due to a number of different issues that can include problems with the liver and kidneys, among other organs. Have you had any testing done to check out markers of your other organ systems? If not, you might want to ask your doc to do so.
