Trouble getting tested beyond the CD blood test

by FurballsMom, Jul 23, 2009 02:34AM
Has anyone else here had trouble convincing their GI to order the more extensive CD tests?  I can't seem to be getting anywhere with any of my doctors even being willing to do this.  I have definite gluten intolerance.  That's not really the issue.  My doctors accept that much as a fact based on my IBS symptoms.  I suspect CD for a couple of reasons:  I'm dealing with eczema breakouts every time I cheat and eat something I know I'm not supposed to be eating.  I don't do this often, and someone just warned me about the possibility of developing cancer if I continually aggravate my intestines.  That got my attention, so I won't be cheating again any time soon.  I went through more than two years of being very strict about my diet and gluten, so I know very well that I do react to the gluten.  I know my IBS doesn't bother me as much when I am determined to steer clear of all gluten and dairy.  I'm usually very good about avoiding gluten and dairy.

I learned, too, that my nephew was diagnosed with Celiac himself.  My brother is gluten intolerant himself.  He didn't say anything about his wife being gluten intolerant, so I know which side of my nephew's family he inherited the CD.  I know that Celiac is also hereditary.  I have a long list of other food sensitivities, too.
