damage after undiagnosed 30 years!

i am 62 years old, female, have been attending gp for very severe debilitating symptoms for over 30 YEARS, i am 100% sure it is celiac ( I have improved dramatically since changin my diet 5 months ago,) The doctor at the endoscopy told me it wouldnt show up because I stopped eating gluten before the test (I wasnt told this)  my question baffles all doctors, I have suffered undiagnosed anemia (going as low as 6.2)  since 1981,Symptoms went on for 20 years,sore: tongue, cold sores mouth ulcers,wrestless legs,2003 took very ill, they put me on ferrous sulphate, miraculously these terrible symptoms disappeared immediately! (Also debilitating tiredness)  when i try to stop these iron pills ALL symptoms come back within days, yet my blood count reads normal, have you any idea why this happens, thank you.

There are several different ways to check iron and red blood cell counts if I remember correctly.  some are short-term readings and others are long.  Why not just keep taking the tablets and try to stay vigilant on the diet?  It takes months and months to heal, so you may just be healing now.  Give it some more time.

I would love to know the answer to this as well as I have suffered from many of the same things that you have mentioned.
