Just Finding Out My Daughter has CP

My daughter is 4 yrs old. She has been diagnosed with CP on the 22nd of January. She has had issues with development since she was 10 months old. We have had her seen by several specialists, and now they diagnosed her with CP. They want to do a brain MRI on the 17th of Feb., and I don't know what to expect. Any advice? I have identical twin girls, and only one of my daughters ended up with CP, and my other daughter is normal. How did this happen? Anyone know? The doctor can't seem to give me any answers. I am feeling angry, sad, worried, and trying to accept all of this.

Hi. Is she the second of twin? Usually the twin with a poorer APGAR score upon delivery or the one who stayed in the hospital longer due to sickness (e.g. neonatal sepsis, pneumonia or meningitis) will more likely develop brain injury, which may lead to cerebral palsy. A pediatric neurologist may best explain the causative factors, symptoms, management and prognosis of your child’s current situation. Hope this helps.
