?spastic cerebral palsy?

Hi, my son is 11 years old now. He was delayed in his milestones. In home physical therapist helped him to begin walking - and ever since he's been a  "toe walker". We started physical therapy for his legs due to tight post capsules (hamstrings) in both legs when he was a year old. As he grew older, he started developing other problems. Bladder issues (enuresis), bowel problems (im still bowel training at age 11!), Scoliosis, plantar fibromatosis in both feet. He also has issues with motor developement - hard for him to write and button clothes, tie shoes ect. He now has to wear metal Dynasplint leg braces. Now we found out he has degenerated disks in his neck which has been causing his awful headaches for years.  Im very upset that i've been stressing the concern that something was wrong with my son to other Dr.s and no one has answers for us. He has 10 dr.s and specialists. He sees a Chirop. 2x a week and now aqua therapy 2x a week. Im doing research on CP and thinking maybe im on the right track??? Can someone help me with some opinions please. I've been a single mother since he was 1yr. Im very tired and frustrated.
Thank You

My son was quad with mixed spastic-dystonic CP. Here's what I can offer:
Aqua therapy is WONDERFUL
Clothing....there are a few (very few) modified clothing shops. You can also modify some clothing yourself (if you can sew)
My son benefitted GREATLY from Intra-Thecal Baclofen....Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh has a fantastic team. The surgeon who did my son's is in Madison, WI now, but spearheaded the procedure in Pittsburgh.
Not sure a chiro is effective or not.

There are several conditions that can cause the multiple issues your son has. Has he had an MRI? An EEG? What tests have been done to diagnose or rule out anything?

I would recommend you get a hold of the hospital social services department (or ombudsman) and mandate a meeting of the minds. YOU are your sons only (and BEST) advocate. It's a hard road, but at least getting some answers may help.

Please keep in touch........

I feel for you and your son. I apologize because I know you were on here looking for help yourself and I am coming at you with questions. I am thankful, however, that I found your post. My son is 7-years old and was diagnosed with mild cp and epilepsy when he was 5. He still can't control his bowels and bladder and the doctors are telling me that it is not related to his cp. His neurologist is insistent that it is only affecting his legs but yet I watch him struggle everyday with writing and other fine motor skill tasks. He cannot tie his shoes. I guess my question for you is have his doctors said that his bowel control and bladder control are related to his cp? I have been pondering whether or not to get a second opinion from another neurologist and really think that is the best option for my son. He in 2nd grade now and gets picked on terrible for his accidents. I feel so helpless and useless because there is nothing more I can do for him. Again I apologize, I have just been searching for sooo long for someone with these issues.
