Abnormal PAP Smear (High-Risk) Should I be worried?

The doc told me not to worry and to come back in 6 months.... also she said it should cure itself. My doc also said due to my age (19) they can't do anything else I'm guessing she means a coloscopy because of guidelines that have to follow. I would have to be 20 or older. Anybody else been through the same thing as me? Please give me some feedback! :-)

Deep breath... You'll likely be just fine.  If they are just retesting in 6 months it means the abnromal cells are VERY low grade... and they are right, unless you are above 30 years old, the cells will likely fix themselves as the HPV infection goes away.  6months to 2 years.  It takes 10+ years in most cases to develop into cancer, so waiting 6 months being 19 is a standard way to handle it.  Paps are VERY early diagnostic.. and sometimes they give false postives even because they are so early in detection... so in 6 months, max a year... I almost guarentee you'll be free and clear.  :-)

I hope so!! :-) Thank you for your feedback! This was the 2nd abnormal test. I tested abnormal 6 months ago and recently went back and was abnormal again. But like u said it takes a while to cure. I guess I can stop worrying myself... lol
