female health problems

i have a lump on my cervix which i have been told is a cyst. should i be having antibiotics for this or could it be something more that really needs checking. i am also having lower stomach cramps outside of menstruation, could this be linked.

A cyst is a fluid-filled/fatty lump of tissue and if it doesn't go away on its own (sometimes some of them do) it can only be removed surgically. Sometimes, depending on where it is a doctor might drain it of fluid. Cysts can cause pain  (an ovarian cyst is very very painful) so it could be causing your cramps. If it's very painful, maybe talk to your doctor about having the cyst removed. If it's very constant and unyielding you should probably tell your doctor.

I believe a cyst can be caused by an infection, but it can also be caused by a lot of other things. Unless you have a bacterial infection in or around your cervex, which your dr. probably would have noticed/ told you about when they found the cyst, you shouldn't need antibiotics.
