what are the stages of dysplasia or CIN until it's cancer?

Hi, after and abnormal pap I had a colposcopy and was diagnosed with CIN I.  After a LEEP I was diagnosed with CIN II and CIN III... Doctor mention about 4 stages of this dysplasia... CIN I, CIN II, CIN III, and CIN IV... and then there's cancer... Is this true????? I've done research about this and can't find anything about CIN IV!!!
CIN III was found in the deeper part of the cervix...I'm already sheduled for a cone biopsy. I'm also HPV+.  I have been following my yearly check ups with my OBGYN and this is sthe first time I get abnormal pap with HPV.

Back in 1994 I had a misscarriage and 6 wks later had an abnormal pap...doctor didn't mention anything about HPV...the abnormal pap in 94 might have been because of the misscarriage because the doctor didn't do a D&C...I got follow ups every six months for 2 yrs. and my paps were normal then until now...

Is dysplasia caused by HPV????
How long does it take for mild dysplasia to progress to severe dysplasia????
How long is HPV present in the cervix before it starts to progress into something????

Last year my pap was normal and didn't have HPV....How is it possible that in just a few months I'm already High risk for cervical cancer??? Plus since I haven't done my cold cut cone biopsy I still don't know if I already have cancer....
PLEASE HELP...............

In 1987 I was 34 years old and diagnosed with stage IV invasive cervical cancer.  that was 22 years ago and I now have copd and usually visit that forum. I found an excellent doctor who gave me a 50/50 chance of survival.  I told him I wanted the good 50 and he said I'm sure you will make it fine.  It was my attitude.  I never said why me. I said oh no I am not ready to go I have a 7 year old and 17 year old that need me so I am not going anywhere for anybody.  I listened to my body and did what it and the doc told me to do. this was my second opinion doc. The first one told me I had cancer on the phone.  That ticked me right off.  I was determined to conquer it and I did. Do the cone biopsy. That is how you will know if you do or don't.  If you don't I would get checked more often than once a year. Good luck,God Bless, chin up, determination is the word of the day.....

Hi, thank you for your positive toughts.. I will walk with my chin up... I have been trough too many horrible things in life already and I have been able to conquer it all.... And you have just reminded me that this is not something that will bring me down!!! I have 4 kids and they need me around... and I plan to stick around.... I'm very much determined.... and with God by my side I know I can.... much thanks....

I had posponed my cone biopsy because I got a really bad flu... it's over now but I still have this very annoying little cough... I'll be calling my doctor soon for new appointment for the cone procedure.... I was wondering.... what procedures did you have after finding out about stage IV... cervical cancer???  Is that the same thing as CIN IV or CIS???
