Hi Jason and thank you for coming back and updating us.....when you are ready to write up your experience please use the journal in the profile page and post a link to that ...this way you can continue to add to it and it will be easily found not only by us but also by you....you can not edit a thread here on the public forum....and in a journal you can...so it is easier not only to add to but make corrections.
Thanks again and I am sending you healing MoJo for a smooth recovery.
A lot has happened sence November we found out it was a brain tumor had it removed April 22nd and I'm recovering now I'm going to write it all up I hope it will help someone out there that is going threw this it might take a while but I am going to work on it this is a scary thing to go threw I have to get all the facts from the dr tomorrow and what it was called and I will start
I echo the words of Nellan and Selma. Find a specialist, keep a very in depth pain and symptom journal to help you in your consultations. Always try to find opportunities to be still and to rest. And, most importantly, please come back to report your process so that we can keep current with you and make you feel that you Re not alone in this. We all have each other's back.
I saw my regular Dr today we do not have a neurosurgeon here so she sent the images to one out of town they can't tell exactly what it is so they are ordering a MRA and I am referred to the neurosurgeon
I have a doctors appointment on Monday we will see what they say thank you so much
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum,
I have to agree with Nellan12 ...do more research....surgery is not a cure...ask why they feel you may be a candidate for surgery.....a CINE MRI will help see if you have a CSF obstruction....then MRI's of the thoracic and lumbar spine to rule out disk issues and a syrinx ( Syringomyelia)
Ruling out ALL related conditions is very important as they can affect recovery should you move forward with surgery.
Educate yourself, research Drs...and take your time....not all with Chiari require surgery and it is not the length but if an obstruction is there....also know many of the related conditions can cause some of the same symptoms as Chiari.
To research Drs see our list in the Health Pages.....keep in mind our list is not a referral nor an endorsement...it is only meant to be a tool, a starting place for your research.
Know you are not alone....
As for those that have been thru this,,,,I had surgery 5 yrs ago....and I would do it again....no regrets....I did have one of the top Drs in Chiari....so,I was lucky in I did my research and took my time to find the right Dr for me, you will too.
Hi 9mm sounds like good size Chiari?? Have you seen a Nerologist or a neurosugent for it yet ?? See what they say also see if you can get an chine MRI to see the CFS flo ...then the NS can really tell you if you need surgery ... But before you jump into it make sure you do a lot of research, find a good Chiari specialist who also understand about Siringo, and Pseudotumor and all related conditions.. You want to make sure you get the best consult.. Before you make that decision ...good luck keep us posted!!!
