A brand new pain with a side of uncontrolable jerking

So Sunday afternoon, I started feeling a tightness in my joints; my neck, my shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees... everywhere. Monday, I felt that if I didn't stretch (constantly), they were going to explode
Tuesday, they started moving on their own! The muscles would stiffen, my arm would lash out or turn or contort ever so strangely. It feels like there is a ton of something built up in every joint and muscle, and if I don't lash out or twist the area, it will explode... it's like a Chiari's headache, in every part of my body! Are y'all familiar with this sensation? because this is brand new to me, and it's scaring the crap out of me. I don't have a HA, but I do have vertigo, vision change, and cognition impairment (like I get with a HA). I'm okay with my body hurting, I do get that, but not my whole body, and not the uncontrollable movements.
I tried a hot bath last night, with Epsom salts... and I haven't taken any new medications, so I know it isn't a reaction to new meds. I'm at a loss, and a bit freaked out.

I ended up going to the doc this morning. She said that she's sure it's the Chiari's acting up, and based on what I detailed to her, and what she saw, she's not sure it's just a "phase", like I had hoped... and she recommended a new prescription to control the muscle convulsions and pain. She's put me on Baclofen 10mg - twice a day. I've read up on it, and am scared of the side effects I may see, such as memory loss and sleepiness, but the rest of it sounds great. I'm not going to start it until I get home tonight, just in case. Here's to hoping.
Thanks for your input, everyone.

It does sound a lot like how my legs were feeling before they became permanently spastic. They would move out on their own (in fact I could only walk with them out, like I had just rode a horse for a long time!!) and they just became stiffer and more painful. I would call you Dr as this could be signs that your symptoms are progressing quicker.
It sounds like you having a lot stronger muscle jerks than I was...I had my hand throw things a few times that I was actually trying to set down nicely but that was about it (all my severe muscle jerks are when I am falling asleep). My feet and hands do constantly cramp though and I do find just stretching and rubbing them helps, also try changing your position especially if it's in your legs.
On the bright side, this was my most greatly improved symptom after surgery so there is hope!! :)
I hope you feel better!

I agree with Selma, get your electrolyte, vitamin level checked.  Potassium and calcium have a lot to do with muscle control...

I have been having stretching urges for the last week as well, I notice it when it is storming outside, I feel pressure build up in my head and body.  I start yawning  alot, feel like I need to take deep breaths and such.  I try not to stretch too much cause I fear making my leak worse but it is hard.

I hope things begin to improve for you.

Well do continue to call ur dr...y hide the cane?...I have one 10 yrs now.....if u need it u need it....it's better than falling over.

And ur co-workers may be more understanding and helpful to u if they knew what was all going on....I am not saying give them details, but like I said if u need a cane u need one.

Having a secret can be stressful and u do not need ne added stress.

Will do, Selma. I took a celebrex after I made that post, and am doing a bit better. I had some left over that my doc had given me samples of for my muscle atrophy... I normally won't self-medicate, but I couldn't reach my doc, and was tired of punching the air. Plus, it's getting real hard to hide it from my co-workers. I've managed to keep my newly acquired cane a secret, but this one's a bit harder.

Sounds like how restless leg syndrome feels...I get it occasionally in my legs, but not all over like u mention. Not even enuff in my legs to get treatment for it....I do get cramps or muscles that twitch.....but that is a lot different from what u r going thru.

Call ur dr to see what is going on...and get ur vitamin and mineral levels checked.
